L’Oreal Miss Manga Rock Mascara Review
L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Rock Mascara joins the Miss Manga Mascara Collection for Summer 2015 and should be arriving at drugstores now. This new formula and applicator promises volume thanks to a 360 degree spiked brush head. Honestly, the displays for L’Oreal Miss Manga Rock and the new Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Chaotic Lash Mascara are completely off putting to me as they show models with clumpy, spidery lashes. Yeah, so, that’s not really the look I’m going for.
But of course, I had to try out L’Oreal Miss Manga Rock Mascara for myself (even though I wasn’t particularly keen on the original formula).
So here’s some thoughts!
L’Oreal Miss Manga Rock Mascara has a cone shaped applicator that isn’t overly large with tiny spikes that surround it. Honestly, spikes for me in most cases translates to, “Imma make a mess of your lashes” and I’m right this is kinda messy to use and has a bit of a learning curve to it. The first few times I created all kinda of a gooey goopy, messy lashes. I find curling prior helps to lift lashes up and out spaces my lashes out so the Miss Manga Rock formula applies with a lot less messy.
The formula is quite wet and goopey and isn’t waterproof as far as I know but didn’t smear, flake, or smudge on my drier eyes. It does set to a dry finish but as you work you’ll definately feel like it’s one wet mess. I felt like I had to work quickly and stroke the applicator through my lashes a few time to work the formula through my lashes and also to prevent my lashes from sitcking together. As I mentioned above my first few times I created rather large clumpy lashes! I find if I stroke quickly through my lashes and take a little time to either use a lash comb or use the applicator to comb the product through my lashes that I get the best results.
I didn’t really notice volume or length. Strangely enough it kinda wings out my outer lashes and adds length and some volume here so you get that flutter, doll-like look which the mascara is named for. Manga characters typically have huge eyes with long flutter lashes so that’s exactly the look this is going for and almost achieves!
If you don’t like heavy mascara, skip this, it’s just a lot of goopey mascara on lashes. This also means that it doesn’t hold curl well and lashes kinda get a bit droopy as the day progresses.
Honestly, I wasn’t terribly impressed with this one. I like something that either gives me good length or volume (and if possible, which is rare, something that gives me both)! This unfortunately seems to have a knack for flaring my outer lashes out and add some length there but not to my total lash line. It might be a nice look if someone wants a smokier, pigmented black lash look. But personally, I think it is mega messy!
