Maybelline Strike a Rose Color Sensational Lipstick is one of several limited edition Color Sensational Lipcolor shades that launched with the Maybelline 100 Years Queen of New York Collection for Summer 2015.
These limited edition shades come in limited edition packaging that features a New York cityscape on the barrel (Asia and the UK have a different design for their lipsticks!).
Let’s take a peek!
Maybelline Strike a Rose Color Sensational Lipstick is, well, anything but rose! This is actually totally a NAR Orgasm dupe! It’s a gorgeous shimmering metallic golden peach. Love, love this color! Maybelline couldn’t release this at a better time as it really is a gorgeous shade for Summer looks. It does have plenty metallic goodness to it but the finish does lean towards being a bit on the frosty side which for me influences the application.

Unfortunately, this applies with a bit of a draggy action. It also settles into my natural lip lines and ends up looking quite dry. I doctored up my photo below with a little clear gloss and instantly the shade looked 100% better. Less dry, smoother, more even, and the color even looked prettier as the clear gloss brought out the golden glistening finish! So, yeah, on its own not so nice but with a little clear gloss very nice. It wears for around three hours on my lips with gloss on and around four without but feels a little gritty and dry without the gloss so I’ll suffer the lost of a fourth hour if I can get a more comfortable wear from it with gloss!
For those sensitive it does have the rather bitter unpleasant play doh taste that all the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks have!

I find the formula on Color Sensational vary from shade to shade and unfortunately Strike a Rose isn’t one of the better ones! But if you don’t mind using a little gloss I’d say indulge in the shade because it truly is delightful!
