L'Oreal La Lacquer Lip Colour Pencils

L’Oreal La Lacquer Shiny Full Coverage Lip Colour Pencils are back for Fall 2015! You might recall that L’Oreal La Lacquer Lip Colour Sticks launched for Fall 2013 as a limited edition collection but more recently they have become available in five permanent shade selections for Fall 2015.

Let’s take a look!

L'Oreal La Lacquer Lip Colour Pencil

L’Oreal La Lacquer Lip Colour Sticks are available in two finishes (you might recall I reviewed the La Matte Sticks earlier today!) one of which is a matte finish and the other provides a shiny or “lacquer”-like finish.

I’m quite pleased these are back as I enjoyed the originals and love the new ones just as much. These are a swivel up lip pencil with an oval shaped tip for application. It’s a funny thing but they have a light vanilla fragrance and flavor compared to the Le Matte formula which sported the rose-y perfume fragrance and flavor of L’Oreal Color Riche Lipstick range. Weird right? Why two different flavors? Hmm! None the less I enjoyed the vanilla a lot more than the perfume-y taste of the Le Matte Sticks!

La Lacquer can be a little deceiving as I don’t get a ton of glossiness from these pencils but they do have a subtle shine which was great as no additional gloss was needed to give the appearance of glossiness. The pigment is gorgeous on these shades and the formula is lightweight with a little hint of stickiness that allows the color to wear a nice four to five hours. I find they tug a little tiny bit during application but still provide a very smooth, even finish on my lips that doesn’t accentuate dryness. I wouldn’t call them hydrating but they aren’t drying either. Color remains strong during the wear and doesn’t migrate around my lips.

I enjoyed them when they originally released and think the formula is still just as good.

Well worth a pick up if you’re a lip pencil kinda girl! Excellent color, easy to carry with you for touch ups, and long wearing!

I love the brighter shade on you! The natural color looks good too. How many other shades are in the collection. I’m pretty sure L’Oreal cosmetics are buy one get one 50% off right now on ULTA.com. The color payoff looks really high end to me on these.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks! There are five of each finish and up they are 50% off at Ulta!

I feel like we’re taking a step back in time. Are these similar to the ones they released a few years ago (2013)? I wonder why they’re doing this?

  • Terry

Darnit, I have been on a hunt for these forever! since it first came out and its always sold out at Target. Love the color on you muse! beautiful.

  • karman

thanks for the swatches muse! i’m wondering if they’re similar to the color riche series in terms of texture and wear (i hope you tried those before!).

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure. I mentioned in this review I felt they were the same. Hope this helps?

      • karman

whoops! i must have missed it somewhere! there’s only color riche lipsticks available in singapore, was wondering if i can get similar effects with those instead of the la laque and la mattes! thanks for your reply! it helps a lot! 😉

        • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure about the ones in Singapore. I thought you meant how these compare to the older La Lacquer formula compared to this newer release?

          • karman

oh! i’m sorry for being so unclear in my original question! my bad! i meant to compare them to the “color riche lipcolor” (official name according to loreal usa website)!

          • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure about the Colour Riche Lipcolor in Singapore but the ones in the US aren’t like this formula at all. Two very different formulas and products. Hope this helps! 🙂

I bought Le Lacque in 207- Lacque-You. The cardboard on the display shows a model which such beautiful glossy lips!
Lovely color but no gloss in terms of what I would call a gloss. staying power is fine. I agree with you, there was a tug. the perfume did not bother me although it’s not as nice as the one in the regular L’Oreal lipstick. I did not buy these back in 2013. I expected to see a difference similar to when you compare regular nail polish and lacquer nail polish, that extra shine
    Thank you as always.

I also purchased the ones from 2013 and I expected glossiness especially with a name like “lacquer” but unfortunately it’s a subtle shine but not much else! Darn shame they aren’t more glossy or shiny 🙁 Aw my pleasure Maria! Unfortunately, this formula isn’t different at all compared to the 2013 release aside from some new shades!

So happy they are back! 🙂 Wish they would release more shades, hopefully they will in the future!
Do they go into lip lines at all or the contour stayed sharp? Do you think they are ok to wear without lip liner?
