MAC Yuzu Fix+

And we’re off! Another day, another MAC Fix+ to review! Today the MAC Yuzu Prep + Prime Fix+ which is one of several new, limited edition fragranced Fix+ formulas.

What a shame that the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Extensions are only available for a limited time (and damn, selling out fast!) but I have hopes if they are popular enough that MAC might bring them back next year in new scents. I realize not everyone loves scented skincare but I’m personally a lover of fragrance in my skincare. It doesn’t upset my skin and I feel like it adds a little to the luxury of the product so I’m all about it.

Let’s take a look at Yuzu Prep + Prime Fix+ and see if you need it.

MAC Yuzu Prep + Prime Fix+1

I mentioned in my prior posts that I’m not really a big believer in using Fix+ for its recommended purpose. MAC strongly promotes it as a makeup setting mist but they also consider it a bit of a multitasking demon since it does also acts as a facial mist to add light hydration while prepping for skincare and/or makeup. I use it to prep for skincare as I dislike setting my makeup with it. I’m not a big makeup setting spray kinda girl plus I feel like I’m doing more damage than go when I set my makeup with a spray so I just don’t use it like that.

On the other hand, I am a strong believer in setting my makeup with a mist of this or some other setting spray if I am using a setting powder or powder foundation. I have a drier skin so a quick mist helps to refine the appearance of powder and gives it a little bit of dewiness making it appear less flat and more smoother and softer in appearance.

I think the fragrance options are fun! MAC released a Rose Fix+ a few years ago and plenty of MAC fans, myself included, thought it quite novel. Of course, Fix+ already has a fresh scent that’s quite nice but having five other options to choose from like Cucumber, Coconut, etc…makes things even more fun.

So far I’ve tried Coconut which was the least moisturizing, Cucumber which seemed to be the more moisturizing, and this one Yuzu. This formula has a lightly slightly citrus-y scent with a bit of floral to it. It’s subtle and probably the least scented of the three I tried but still pleasant. The formula isn’t highly moisturizing but it does provide a nice light moisture to skin and preps it for skincare so moisturizer absorbs more easily. It’s also nice to tuck in your fridge at work and just mist it on to keep skin, that’s been in the AC all day, lightly hydrated!

I liked Coconut but Yuzu is probably my favorite. And I admit I’ve tried the two together and it creates a rather refreshing cocktail scent!

The MAC Yuzu Prep + Prime Fix+ is available now for a limited time at MAC counters or online at nordstrom.com.

Hey Muse, under your Illamasqua posting, the comment box disappeared, but I’ve always wanted to try them, and I’m excited they ship to the USA and faster too

Funny 🙂 I have the coconut and the yuzu… I really wanted to like the cucumber but it smelled, I don’t know, fake. I wasn’t a fan. But I love the two that I got regardless although it isn’t that fine of mist as I thought it would be. But I use it as a primer. I never thought of using them both at the same time!! I will definitely try that too!!!

did you try the lavender? It’s so NICE! yup, not a fine mist at all which is why I dislike them as setting mist! :-/ Sure, they smell pretty combined! Try it! 😀

I just bought Yuzu on a whim at MAC after smelling them all. It wasn’t on display but I asked anyway and there were some left. Originally I purchased coconut and cucumber online…coconut was the most disappointing and I was most excited for that one. But I really find the yuzu to be refreshing and happy. Such a pleasant surprise!!
