Wen Summer Coconut Lime Verbena Cleansing Conditioner

Wen Summer Coconut Lime Verbena Cleansing Conditioner is the newest Wen Summer 2015 Cleansing Conditioner that recently launched on QVC. I think I may be a little burned out on Wen Cleansing Conditioner fragrances lately because many of the formulas are very, very thick compared to the original formulations and my hair doesn’t quite love the texture!

But Coconut Lime Verbena?

How could I resist?!

GREAT NEWS! I love this formula! Phew! If you’ve experienced issues with some of the seasonal fragrances being a little too thick and creamy you’ll be happy with Coconut Lime Verbena. Granted, it’s thick, it’s creamy, but the formula is more like the original Almond Mint formulation. I believe someone told me the seasonal collection was created with the Wen Six Thirteen formula which gives it a much thicker consistency than I like. I just find it difficult to wash out and it leaves all kinds of buildup behind.

But as I said this formula is more like the Almond Mint formula so I’m a happy girl!

Now the fragrance is lovely but not what I expected. I expected something more original from Wen in all honesty but it’s just a rerun of Bath & Body Works Coconut Lime. I’d say it was a spot on dupe. The coconut is very subtle and the mix of tart lime gives the fragrance a little kick! I thought the linger in my hair a little weaker compared to past seasonals but it still left my hair smelling quite lovely!

If you’ve never used Wen Cleansing Conditioners before you should read my article about “What Co-washing is?” to brush up on why cleansing conditioners may or may not be good for your hair type. This is a thick conditioner that replaces shampoo and conditioner so you’ll be using it to not only to condition your hair but also to cleanse it. Simply wet your hair, work the cleansing conditioner through, and rinse! It leaves my drier, wavy hair soft, smooth, and tangle free. My hair is very long and very wavy and this is a treat for it!

Not sure I’m incredibly impressed with the fragrance of Went Coconut Lime Verbena Cleansing Conditioner but I am happy with the formula! I don’t think it needs to be added to your must buy list but if you’re running low on your current Wen it’ll make a nice Summer replacement.

Wen Summer Coconut Lime Verbena Cleansing Conditioner is available now at QVC.com.

You know, I hadn’t thought about the thickness of the originals vs. seasonals but I have noticed that some of the Wen scents (and I have been using a lot of seasonals because I like to try and get a deal on QVC and they’re often for seasonals) leave like a . . . sludge in my tub/shower after I rinse. It’s really kind of gross and I have to make sure I break it up with the shower sprayer or it dries and is really icky. Anyway, good to know about the Coconut Lime. I actually will be happy to go back to Sweet Almond Mint when I use up the bottles I have. (I like the Herbal Essences one a lot, too.)

I feel like the seasonals cause build up in my hair where as I don’t feel that way with some of the originals like Sweet Almond Mint. It’s kinda weird. I’m thankful Coconut Lime isn’t like this! (PS I like the Herbal Essences one too)! I didn’t notice the sludge in my shower but I did notice the seasonals are a little harder to rinse out!

Hi Muse! I would like to try Wen but all of the regular (not 613) formulas seem to have mint, menthol or eucalyptus in them and I can’t stand any products with those ingredients – they make me feel cold! Even the Herbal Essences version has mint or menthol! I am trying a cleansing conditioner by Matrix/Biolage that is just ok. Do you have any recommendations of any of the Wen fragrances that don’t have mint in them? Thank you!

Hi Nina! Diane has posted ingredients on her site and I’m just glancing over it quickly and don’t see any mint in this version Nina! here’s her photos of the bottle: http://dianemarybeauty.blogspot.com/2015/06/wen-summer-coconut-lime-verbena-review.html currently I only have coconut lime and almond mint in rotation, all my other bottles I’ve used up and tossed out so not sure which do or do not contain mint/menthol. Perhaps contact Wen’s customer service directly? Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

      Hi Nina,
I hope you get to see this 🙂 The WEN kids formulations do not have any menthol in them or any other “minty” ingredients that would give your scalp the tingling feeling. I’ve tried the apple and the watermelon and they smell so amazing!! You should give them a try, I’m sure you’d love them.

I got this scent in the mist and I LOVE it- it reminds me of a margarita meets sun tan lotion. I like the fact the coconut is not overwhelming. You know, I was curious if the BBW coconut lime scent was similar but it’s only online. Now that you say they are so close I may need to place another BBW semi annual sale order. 0;)

Thanks for the review! My hair’s thick/coarse and wavy and tends to frizz super easy, and I need pretty heavy moisturizing. I don’t fall into the “Wen formulas are for everyone” but sure wish I did! Out of the main line, I can only use Fig and Tea Tree, some 613, and have had to add one of those three to all the seasonals but two (Winter Mint and Honey Peach, my fav), which is a drag with all these cool scents! This sounds like it’s not nourishing enough for me so thanks for the review! I bought a 32 oz of Honey Peach and will keep hoping for another I can use!
