Yes, The Ravings are True, Too Faced Born This Way is Pretty Fabulous
Too Faced Born This Way Undetectable Medium-to-Full Coverage Foundation ($39) is a new second skin foundation that launched with the Too Faced Fall 2015 Collection. I actually didn’t buy it yet because I wanted to test it out in store (Too Faced Born This Way will be in stores on July 15th) and see which shade would suit me best.
But lucky enough, Too Faced included a generous three shade sample when I ordered the new Love Palette so I was able to not only find a good color match but also got a chance to test the foundation out for myself so here’s a few thoughts and a mini review of sorts.
Too Faced Born This Way is an oil-free foundation that provides undetectable, second-skin like coverage and according to the brand it leaves skin “naturally radiant”. Ok, they got me scared at naturally radiant as I do not like luminous or glow-y foundations but lucky enough there’s no shimmer, sparkle, or glow to be had in this formula.
The formula is apparently infused with coconut water to replenish the moisture levels in your skin as well as alpine rose which apparently improves elasticity and gives your complexion a brighter appearance. And last, but never least, Hyaluronic Acid which aids in returning moisture.
Obviously the big draw here is the fact that this has a natural finish so it doesn’t appear as if you’re wearing foundation at all and that is in fact exactly what it provides! The coverage is beautiful! It’s very natural yet still very pigmented so it’ll provide a good deal of coverage but still looks and feels like skin. It’s a funny thing about second-skin foundation as in many cases they run sheerer but Too Faced has successfully perfected a formula that provides a solid medium coverage along with a light, natural finish.
Too Faced Born This Way Swatches (Sand)
The texture is creamy yet runny and blends out easily and flawlessly. I love the texture as it feels quite hydrating as you apply but it does set to a satiny finish that doesn’t cling to drier areas. The sample card I received had three shades in Vanilla, Light Beige, and Sand. Light Beige was a fairly excellent pick for me, this was a light beige with neutral, golden undertones. I’m nitpicky about foundations as I have duller skin and I dislike bases that give me a cake face appearance or a base that makes my skin look lackluster. This made my skin look bright and natural. It wore for a solid five hours for me even outside on a warmer day.
So, all the ravings you have been hearing about Too Faced Born This Way are true. This is a fabulously formulated foundation that provides lightweight, breathable coverage with a very, very natural finish no matter how much you apply. The thing that sets it apart from other second skin foundations is the fact it backs up it’s promise of medium coverage without forsaking the lightweight, natural finish of the product! It’s a rarity you get both weightless and pigmented coverage.
I’d recommend checking it out.
I know I’ll be buying a full size.
