Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix Review & Swatches
Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix ($5) launched earlier this week in eight permanent shades. With the introduction of Colourpop Lippie Stix Sheer, there are now a total of four finishes in the Lippie Stix family!
Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix promise sheer color with a lightweight, comfortable feel on lips with a formula that contains organic coconut butter as well as vitamin E. These are by far my favorite edition of Lippie Stix to date and believe me they are far from sheer!
You have to love Colourpop! They contentiously release new products and still maintain a budget friendly price. I’m kinda waiting for this Indie brand to get picked up by Sephora at some point soon as truly from packaging, to color selection, to formula, they have a lot going on for them.
I’m hit or miss on all the Colourpop Lippie Stix formulas I’ve tried from matte, to cream, to hyper gloss and now the sheer version. They get a lot of raves and rightly so but they aren’t the most perfect formula in the world as some of the finishes tend to tug and drag during application and I think it deserves mentioning. Like all the finishes the sheer version as the same tug and drag application but they look incredibly smooth and provide truly lovely color so you might be able to ignore this little hiccup in the formula.

These are a long, slim line twist up pencil design in a white tube. Honestly, at $5 bucks each you have to give Colourpop props for great packaging.
The sheer finish version is supposed to provide sheer color with a lighter texture. I don’t find them terribly moisturizing but they aren’t drying either and I noticed no taste or fragrance. Some of my other Lippie Stixs have a bit of a vanilla taste and flavor but I really didn’t notice that in the sheer version.
As I mentioned above they do tug a little during application but the finish is very smooth and even. I never felt they settled into my natural lip lines (some Lippie Stix do) and they didn’t adhere to drier areas on my lips. The finish has a slight shine with a light balmy consistency that clings lightly to lips and wears for a solid four hours. The colors are sheer but they still have plenty of pigment so they aren’t completely transparent when applied.

I think the thing I liked the most about these shades is the fact that many are MLBB (my lips but better) shades! I also loved the fact that some of the more vibrant or darker shade wear much more wearable in a sheer formula. For example, Tiger would be a shade I’d likely available if the finish was matte. The fact that it applies sheerer makes it a lot more easier to wear for me!
I wouldn’t say the Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix formula isn’t without flaws because as I said there is some tugging during application. But all in all these are a very nice formula with excellent pigment, fantastic wear, and a great little price tag. I do believe they are my fav finish to date from Colourpop!
