Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix Review & Swatches

Colourpop Lippie Stix Sheer

Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix ($5) launched earlier this week in eight permanent shades. With the introduction of Colourpop Lippie Stix Sheer, there are now a total of four finishes in the Lippie Stix family!

Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix promise sheer color with a lightweight, comfortable feel on lips with a formula that contains organic coconut butter as well as vitamin E. These are by far my favorite edition of Lippie Stix to date and believe me they are far from sheer!

Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix

You have to love Colourpop! They contentiously release new products and still maintain a budget friendly price. I’m kinda waiting for this Indie brand to get picked up by Sephora at some point soon as truly from packaging, to color selection, to formula, they have a lot going on for them.

I’m hit or miss on all the Colourpop Lippie Stix formulas I’ve tried from matte, to cream, to hyper gloss and now the sheer version. They get a lot of raves and rightly so but they aren’t the most perfect formula in the world as some of the finishes tend to tug and drag during application and I think it deserves mentioning. Like all the finishes the sheer version as the same tug and drag application but they look incredibly smooth and provide truly lovely color so you might be able to ignore this little hiccup in the formula.

Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix Swatches (Safari, Tiger, Crunch, Juice Bar, Kiddo, Peacocky)

These are a long, slim line twist up pencil design in a white tube. Honestly, at $5 bucks each you have to give Colourpop props for great packaging.

The sheer finish version is supposed to provide sheer color with a lighter texture. I don’t find them terribly moisturizing but they aren’t drying either and I noticed no taste or fragrance. Some of my other Lippie Stixs have a bit of a vanilla taste and flavor but I really didn’t notice that in the sheer version.

As I mentioned above they do tug a little during application but the finish is very smooth and even. I never felt they settled into my natural lip lines (some Lippie Stix do) and they didn’t adhere to drier areas on my lips. The finish has a slight shine with a light balmy consistency that clings lightly to lips and wears for a solid four hours. The colors are sheer but they still have plenty of pigment so they aren’t completely transparent when applied.

I think the thing I liked the most about these shades is the fact that many are MLBB (my lips but better) shades! I also loved the fact that some of the more vibrant or darker shade wear much more wearable in a sheer formula. For example, Tiger would be a shade I’d likely available if the finish was matte. The fact that it applies sheerer makes it a lot more easier to wear for me!

I wouldn’t say the Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix formula isn’t without flaws because as I said there is some tugging during application. But all in all these are a very nice formula with excellent pigment, fantastic wear, and a great little price tag. I do believe they are my fav finish to date from Colourpop!

No interest in ColourPop but —

AHHH! I love Rick! He’s by far my favorite character on TWD.

    • Isabella Muse

haha! 😀 Glad you enjoyed him! I love me some Andy Lincoln, he does a great Rick!

  • Missy

I just ordered Kiddo and Peacocky! I hope they’re nicer than the mattes… I found those just too drying and I don’t have sensitive lips at all.

    And RIIICCKKKK….. LOVE him! I have a Darryl statue and he’s toting his crossbow 😀 I don’t know who I like better…

    • Isabella Muse

Missy, I liked the mattes but they tend to settle into my natural lip lines terribly 🙁 sad sigh! Haha I have Darryl too, I wish he held the crossbow a little better 🙁 But I still think he’s fab. Did you pre-order Michonne? She’s available on EE for prebook! 😀

      • Missy

Yeah, he does tend to drop his crossbow LOL! No, I didn’t see Michonne! Will have to look for her!! Thanks for the tip 😀

          • Missy

Oh my gosh, she is so awesome…. WOW O_O THANK YOU for the link!! I hope she stands up well, in that pose. But man oh man does she look fierce!

          • Isabella Muse

right? I was pissy because Amazon didn’t have two prebooks and ended up ordering the She-ra bust to off set the shipping (I hate paying shipping haha). I do too! If she can maintain the pose I’ll be a happy camper.

  • Missy

Oh I hate paying shipping, too. One of my biggest pet peeves about shopping online. She-ra!?! I swear, I think we are sisters separated at birth… We like all the same stuff LOL 😀

    • Isabella Muse

HAHA! 😀 yeah! they have Tee-la too, you didn’t hear it here *looks at the ceiling innocently* hehe 🙂 Me too, hate paying shipping anything with a passion 😀

      • Missy

Awesome!! One of the best compliments of my life was when my college buddy Bob said I looked like Evil Lynn LOL LOL!! He gave me a baseball card type thing with her picture on it, with a little bio about her. I still have it!

I had a bit of a crush on Man-at-Arms….. heehee!

        • Isabella Muse

I just want to establush that Evil Lyn is the $hit 😀 haha! So that’s a total compliment! AH no way haha! I love Skeletor! He was totally my fav 😀

  • Missy

No, I’ve never seen that! That is hilarious!! Of course, that led to a lot more Skeletor vids on YouTube… I’m very distractible hahahaha

  • Rachel R.

This remind me a bit of UD Sheer Revolution Lipsticks, in that they’re sheer but very pigmented. I’ll have to put a few of these in my next order. Tiger is gorgeous.

  • Lori

Ohmigod, you guys are talking about He-Man!!!! I had a Teela action figure. And She-Ra. AND her horse. AND…there was an actual movie, with both He-Man and She-Ra…and I saw it…

  • Nataile Brown

These shades are really pretty on you! I like most of them too and for $5 they’re so affordable. Overall, I’ve been really impressed with this new brand. 🙂
