MAC Rose Prep + Prime Fix+ Review
MAC Rose Prep + Prime Fix+ is one of a few new, limited edition Prep + Prime Fix+ Mists that MAC released in different fragrances. Now Rose actually, technically isn’t new as it did launch as a limited edition release with the MAC Rose Romance Collection a few years ago!
I surely hope you got your hands on the MAC Rose Prep + Prime Fix+ because this and all the other fragrances are selling out fast!
I’m not a big Fix+ mist fan as I dislike applying my makeup and proceeding to hose myself down with a mist. It just feels like I’m ruining my makeup by doing this! On the upside, there are certain formulas that actually work well for me to not only set makeup but also to refine the finish of powders and mineral foundations if you wear them. On that note, as you already know, I am obsessed with facial mists for prepping prior to skincare! I love them!
It’s a weird thing because MAC Rose Prep + Prime Fix+ is one of the formulas that actually works best as a makeup fixing mist. A lot of these new mists have the same ingredients but I find that each fragrance has a different consistency. Both Rose and Coconut seem to be the best formulations for mattifying skin and fixing makeup. This isn’t as hydrating as the other mists in the collection and it seems to absorb the little bit of excess oil I have on my skin. It does well keeping my foundation and blush wearing a little bit longer!
This particularly formula doesn’t quite work well as a facial mist though. It isn’t terribly hydrating and has an almost tightening effect once applied thus that’s why I like it as a makeup setting spray instead. If you wear minerals or set your makeup with powder you’ll find this refines the finish so it doesn’t cling to your face and doesn’t have a flat finish that many powders do!
The rose scent is divine. It’s one of the stronger mists in the collection as some are very subtly scented but this has a very nice, strong scent. It isn’t a cloying grandma style rose! It’s a fresher true rose scent that’s very pleasant to my nose.
All in all the MAC Rose Prep + Prime Fix+ was a fab formula. I’m glad I purchased all of them as each one seems to have different characteristics! It’s a shame MAC didn’t make these available permanently but considering how well they are selling I have a feeling you’ll see them again in the near future.
