Marc Jacobs Beauty O! Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara

Marc Jacobs Beauty O! Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara ($26) is a fairly new “ultra” volumizing mascara that’s been formulated with a “special size” formula that contains a blend of rice bran, bayberry, carob, and African acacia tree extracts for maximum lash-expanding impact.

Sounds great right?

Ummm computer says no.

I’m probably one of the few people that actually think splurging on mascara is a good idea. I just find that I’m very unhappy with most drugstore mascaras and hey, if I’m going to spend $10 to $12 on a drugstore at the mascara I might as well get something from Sephora that I’ll be way happier with.

However, the exception to the rule is when you’re spending near $30 on a mascara and it isn’t quite the formula you had hoped for. So is the case for Marc Jacobs Beauty O! Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara!

This is a lot of marketing with very little performance. Apparently it’s a full bodied formula that lengthens, curls, defines, and volumizes lashes giving them a longer, fuller, and blacker than black finish.

Not so much.

This has a basic straight brush applicator that provides some nice length but not a ton of volume. It’s a bit confusing as the first portion of their description is all about volume but later on they get into how the formula not only volumizes but curls and lengthens. I guess they don’t want to market it as a one trick pony but for me it is just that. I get a ok length from it but not a ton of volume nor a ton of curl. The formula is thicker and doesn’t clump but it isn’t lightweight either and it does give a crunchy, stuff kind of finish. It wears strongly without flaking or smudging on my drier eyes plus it removes easily at the end of the night.

For something that promises volume and is apparently formulated for just that this provides mediocre length at best. Worst part? Within a month mine was kinda dried out and unusable!

Marc Jacobs Beauty O Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara

At $26 dollars this performs more like a drugstore mascara than a higher end one.

I say skip it.

I love Marc Jacobs Beauty and thus far, hasn’t disappointed me but sadly O! Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara gets a toss and a thumbs down from this high end mascara lover.

Marc Jacobs Beauty O! Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara is available now at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Tried it?

I scored a mini of this from Sephora Rome as a GWP but haven’t unpacked yet. Boo! I was so excited about it, but I have super-short lashes and need length, length and more length. Will stick to Hypnose mascaras.

Yeah, definitely not enough WOW factor to justify the price.

OMG Muse!! This ALWAYS happens to me with the mini mascara samples. Why do they work SOOO much better than their full size versions!!?? It’s so frustrating. I thought I was crazy, glad I’m not the only one who notices this! Haha 😉

I’m really surprised you don’t like this! It’s my HG mascara and I’m on like tube 8 of it! I got a GwP or I never would have tried it since his Lash Lifter Mascara got horrible reviews. This lengthens, vomumizes ans somehow makes me look like I have more lashes than I really do. My lashes are kind of long but not very lush and each lash is pretty thin. And I have tried a LOT of mascaras from everywhere. My 2nd favorite is Guerlain Lash Love, but I always come back to MJ Omega. And it stays on looking the same all day, which is nice. Try it again, Muse!

That’s great! I’m glad it works for you Stefanie! I wish it was as good for me. I’ve been trying 🙁 since Spring, but sadly not convinced I love. Sad sigh!

I got the mini and I also get length but no volume from this mascara. It is nice and black and glossy. I’m using it up by using a coat of BE Volumizing and then a coat of the MJ OMeGa.
