Clairol Hair Food Moisturizing Hair Mask Like A Glass of Iced Tea for Your Hair
It’s no secret I really love Clairol Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo and Clairol Hair Food Moisturizing Hair Mask is no different. This one is like an ice cold glass of iced tea for your hair!
Call me nuts but this honey and apricot infused hair mask smells like iced tea to me! Clairol Hair Food Moisturizing Hair Mask ($11.99) is a super moisture rich hair mask that adds a ton of moisture and shine to hair.
I love a good hair mask. On Sunday evenings in the Winter I have a little ritual where I dump a half a pot of Lush H’Suan Wen Hua on my head, work it through my hair, and sit around with a towel wrapped around my head for an hour or two. Totally a treat and a great way to get my long, wavy, drier hair back to being soft and manageable again!
Now H’Suan Wen Hua is $20.95 so if you wanna cheapen things up Clairol Hair Food Moisturizing Hair Mask is just as lovely if not as natural plus you can get it on sale quite often at your local Target. This one contains a good deal of conditioning agents, silicones, fragrance, and fatty alcohols. For me that translates as a major build up but on the upside it does provide a good deal of slip so your hair is more manageable and super soft.
This apparently has a honey apricot scent but to me it smells like iced tea! It’s quite strongly in the fragrance department and lingers very nicely with a nice little throw so you’ll have people asking, “What did you wash your hair with!?” if they happen to be standing close to you!
The formula on the mask is very, very, very thick. It’s an opaque cream which can be applied to damp hair while you’re in the shower and left it for 5 minutes or if you want to treat yourself you can dampen your hair, apply the mask, and either place a shower cap on your head or wrap your hair in a towel and sit around for a bit while the conditioner goes to work!
I typically rinse out with cool water but since this mask is very, very thick you might want to rinse out with warmer water so it breaks down the mask more easily. I find this takes a little elbow grease to rinse out completely!
The problem with the mask is it can easily build up and weight hair down. That isn’t always a bad thing for me as my hair is quite frizzy, a little dry, and very wavy with plenty of curl so a little weight helps to tame the frizz. I find the mask makes my hair look sleeker, shinier, and quite softer however, I think it is best used once a week at best. This isn’t something you wanna do daily or even two or three times a week. I’d keep it to once a week at best and if you do experience build up you can always use the Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo which really does a nice job clarifying hair! It’s a favorite of mine!
What did I like about the mask?
I realize some of the post sounds discouraging but I think the extra work to rinse this mask out and the build up are a toss up for the great shine and softness this provides to my hair. My curls look so much more softer and refined when I use this mask. So if you have drier, longer, perhaps coarser hair this is an excellent way to add much needed moisture!
