E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Foundation Serum 1

E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Foundation Serum ($8) is a new lightweight serum foundation with an SPF 25 that launched with some of the newest E.L.F. Summer 2015 offerings back in late May. I’ve actually been using this daily since getting it back then and I have to say I do like it a lot however, it’s only available in three shade selections sadly.

Let’s take a look!

I should start out my review by saying I am so not a serum foundation lover. I have drier skin and you’d think a formula like this would be awesome for me but I find serum foundations tend to run very oily and they leave me feeling quite dewy! No like!

Thankfully enough E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Foundation Serum is actually delightful, providing light moisture but nothing so dramatic that I feel greasy after use. According to E.L.F. it gives skin a dewy, luminous finish and looking at the bottle the foundation appears very yellow. This, for me, translated as “Uh oh glow-y!” But I purchased medium and although it appears yellow in the bottle and it swatches yellow it applies quite nicely and adds brightness and very sheer coverage to my complexion. The consistency has a runny consistency but it absorbs easily into skin and leaves it light hydrated but not oily, shiny, or dewy to the touch! It’s very soft and smooth on my skin without accentuating drier areas but doesn’t leave me looking or feeling dewy.

Unfortunately this isn’t full or even medium coverage foundation but I was fine with that as I don’t desire or need a ton of coverage. However, the sheer coverage might prove disappointing for those who need or desire more pigment in their foundation products. I thought it was just enough coverage to even out my skin tone and brighten my skin tone but nothing glow-y, shimmery, or luminous as per the name.

I like how light this wears and its has become a nice little Summer staple. I will say it’s sadly expensive for E.L.F. and it also lacks a large color selection plus add in the sheerness and you might feel like heading to the drugstore might provide a better selection and coverage options! It’s nice but by E.L.F. standards $8 does prove too much for a sheerer finish foundation without a ton of color options. I’ll definitely continue reusing it and I would even consider a repurchase but this one won’t prove a great pick for everyone.

Has anyone tried this and the glossier skin tint? They seem similar in concept and I’m dying to know how they compare. Especially cause of the large price difference!

Hmmm, eventhough you are not 100% convinced I am tempted to try it! I wonder when they’ll release this here… We’re always a bit behind on e.l.f. launches.

How does the coverage compare to the Physician’s Formula Youthful Wear foundation (in the polka-dotted glass bottle)? Are they same, or does this have more sheerer coverage?

This is far more sheer. I realize you asked this question quite a while ago, so hopefully it was still helpful.

The medium shade looks exactly like the Bare Minerals bare skin foundation in bare ivory (which is my shade) and also seems like it might be a dupe for the bare skin foundation,I might want to give this a try and see how it pairs up.
