Macy’s Backstage Outlet Stores Coming to New York

macys backstage outlet store

Love Nordstorm Rack? TJ Maxx? Yeah, don’t we all! Scoring a great deal is easier than ever now with the launch of Macy’s Outlet Stores in New York!

Macy’s takes a stab at deeply discounted designer brands with their new Macy’s Backstage discount stores that will be opening in the New York City area this Fall. The first store is opening in Elmhurt, Queens (bugger, I hate heading to Queens!) for Fall 2015 and is about the size of a T.J. Maxx location and will be offering brands such as Calvin Klein, Fila, Reebok, Sunglass Hut and other designer swag.

The outlet store will also feature budget friendly brands like E.l.F. Cosmetics in their beauty section!

Four of the six planned outlet stores will be open by Sept 2 and the others will appear later this Fall.

I’m a huge fan of the Rack and I love heading over there to score deals on shoes, accessories, and beauty (I sadly do NOT have patience to look through the clothing racks though because they are so damn messy) so I’m looking forward to seeing what Macy’s Backstage Outlet Stores have to offer and if they will be any better than Nordstrom Rack.

Are you excited about the idea of a Macy’s Backstage Outlet Stores?

I was wondering what that was! I was just in Elmhurst (to go to Target, natch) and saw the store – it looked super promising: lots of light and seemed to be pretty well organized. I am fearing that lots more treks to Queens are in my future once it opens.

There used to be Macy’s outlets, in NY and NJ. One was in a warehouse in Mount Olive, NJ and the other was in the mall in Middletown, NY. The one in Mount Olive, was awesome….NO SALES TAX (Middletown had really high sales tax, on everything). I think it was the first Tuesday of the month, everything was 90% off. We used to shop with green garbage bags! I still have the Charter Club cashmere sweaters that I paid $4.00 for and some of the polar fleece sweatshirts. There were a few Macy’s outlets around the country and without warning they closed their doors…..corp didn’t feel the outlets were the proper imagine for the brand. Enjoy it while you can!!!
