Milani Dolci Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss Review & Swatches
Milani Dolci Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss ($4.99) is a new, limited edition Summer 2015 shade that launched with the Milani Dolci Collection earlier this season.
It deserves to be mentioned I really love Milani Brilliant Shine Lipgloss but I felt like Dolci fell more into the Milani Fierce Foil Brilliant Shine Lipgloss realms which is a product I didn’t quite get on with.
Milani Dolci Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss is a unique shade of rose gold with gold pearl as described by Milani. I’d describe it as a frosty light metallic pink with pearl. Unlike the Fierce Foil Lipgloss formula it does have not have chunky pieces of shimmer or glitter however, the fact that it pulls so metallic on my lips made me feel it belonged more in that group of glosses than in the original Brilliant Shine Lipgloss one.

This is a shade that some creative makeup user will likely use to create incredible ombre looks….Me? I’m not that creative when it comes to makeup! I’m a slick on and go kinda girl and if you told me to create an ombre lip look, well, I’d struggle with that.
Now if you are like me and just wanna slick this on and go you may or may not love the color. I don’t. It has a liquid metal-like finish which is honestly stunning! The color is quite pigmented and what you see in the tube is actually what you’ll get on lips. I just don’t like the way it looks on me. It might look better on someone with a darker skin tone than my own. I’m just not a metallic, frosty kinda gal!
The texture of the gloss isn’t particularly lovely either. I do love the Brilliant Shine Lipgloss formula but this is very thick and goopy! My lips are quite good at the moment and not dry but this does separate and tends to settle into my natural lip lines so be warned it will likely adhere to drier areas and put a spotlight on them. The colors doesn’t migrate but it doesn’t really wear nicely as I mentioned as it seems to have some sort of odd separation problem. The applicator this comes with is excellent and saturates well with the gloss and allows very easy application. It actually also helps with the separation issue as it spreads the gloss evenly if you stroke it across lips a few times. The gloss does have a very, very strong flavor and fragrance! It’s a vanilla brulee kinda scent and flavor to my mouth.
Milani Dolci Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss lives up to its name that’s for sure. It makes me think of sweets, candy, and fluffy pastries and such! However, the shade simply doesn’t work for me sadly!
