Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette Review & Swatches
The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette that launched with the Lorac Holiday 2015 Collection that includes a total of 32 Lorac Eyeshadows in matte and shimmer shades which will be available exclusively at Ulta.
The Lorac Mega Pro 2 is a follow up from the Lorac Mega Pro 1 that arrived with the Lorac Holiday 2014 Collection. Volume 1 sold out in a blink of an eye last year and never did come back in stock. I’m hoping that the Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette proves easier for everyone to get their hands on this year and enjoy.
The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette will be available at Ulta and Ulta.com beginning October 4th.
Let’s take a look!
The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette comes housed in a bright blue, slim palette with a generously sized mirror and a magnetic closure. It’s not bulky and it’ll store very easily due to the slimmer design. Inside you’ll find all 32 shades of shadow each of which has its name printed below it on the actual palette.
I don’t have the Lorac Mega Pro 1 so I can’t really say if this is a rehash of colors from that palette sadly. I will say this is an excellent assortment of shades and really covers a wide array of different shades that are both warm and cool although the warmer shades do tend to dominate the palette. I wouldn’t narrow these shades down to being solely matte or solely shimmer as there does appear to be some variations of metallic and satins along with the promised shimmers and mattes.
As with all Lorac Eyeshadows these have a positively dreamy formula. They are very, very smooth and almost creamy in nature with excellent pigmentation. The texture is very, very soft and runs powdery but not chalky or dry. Actually the powdery part is a bit of an issue as it does make a mess within the palette because as soon as a brush touches these shades they crumble up and release a ton of powder everywhere. These are so soft and very loosely packed so you will get a good deal of powdery kick up (you can see that in my image below). I’m always very pleased with Lorac’s Eyeshadow formula particularity there mattes which are soft, silky, and easy to use. You do need a good base to apply any of these shades as it will lessen fall out and allows the shades to adhere to lids for all day wear. I find MAC Paint Pots work best to keep these shades wearing strong and vibrant and as I said since these are a very soft and almost crumbly in texture the Paint Pot has a thick enough formula to help catch the shades and lessen the eyeshadow from falling around your eyes and cheeks. I think it’s a beautiful assortment of shades with a gorgeously textured formula but it can prove a little messy to work with at times.
As I mentioned above I wouldn’t call these shades strictly mattes and shimmers. There’s a few metallic shades here as well as some satins. It almost felt like the palette was dominated by mattes versus any other finish though for some reason. Although I’m not a huge lover of mattes, I failed to be disappointed by this since Lorac’s mattes are quite silky and easy to apply!
It’s funny as some of these Holiday palettes aren’t really very “Holiday” themed in nature. I wouldn’t say the Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette offers any traditional Holiday shades but it does offer a good deal of colors that you can use in daily looks which is priceless to me. Who wants a bunch of shimmery golds and reds that are only suitable for use during the Holiday season when you can have 32 shades that you can work in looks over the next 12 months no matter the season right?

The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette has a bit of messy fall out to deal with but overall this palette provides a great selection of shades that are easy to blend, pigmented, and quite gorgeously formulated (so long as the powdery kick up doesn’t bother you too much).
