Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette22

The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette that launched with the Lorac Holiday 2015 Collection that includes a total of 32 Lorac Eyeshadows in matte and shimmer shades which will be available exclusively at Ulta.

The Lorac Mega Pro 2 is a follow up from the Lorac Mega Pro 1 that arrived with the Lorac Holiday 2014 Collection. Volume 1 sold out in a blink of an eye last year and never did come back in stock. I’m hoping that the Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette proves easier for everyone to get their hands on this year and enjoy.

The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette will be available at Ulta and Ulta.com beginning October 4th.

Let’s take a look!

Lorac Mega Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette

The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette comes housed in a bright blue, slim palette with a generously sized mirror and a magnetic closure. It’s not bulky and it’ll store very easily due to the slimmer design. Inside you’ll find all 32 shades of shadow each of which has its name printed below it on the actual palette.

I don’t have the Lorac Mega Pro 1 so I can’t really say if this is a rehash of colors from that palette sadly. I will say this is an excellent assortment of shades and really covers a wide array of different shades that are both warm and cool although the warmer shades do tend to dominate the palette. I wouldn’t narrow these shades down to being solely matte or solely shimmer as there does appear to be some variations of metallic and satins along with the promised shimmers and mattes.

As with all Lorac Eyeshadows these have a positively dreamy formula. They are very, very smooth and almost creamy in nature with excellent pigmentation. The texture is very, very soft and runs powdery but not chalky or dry. Actually the powdery part is a bit of an issue as it does make a mess within the palette because as soon as a brush touches these shades they crumble up and release a ton of powder everywhere. These are so soft and very loosely packed so you will get a good deal of powdery kick up (you can see that in my image below). I’m always very pleased with Lorac’s Eyeshadow formula particularity there mattes which are soft, silky, and easy to use. You do need a good base to apply any of these shades as it will lessen fall out and allows the shades to adhere to lids for all day wear. I find MAC Paint Pots work best to keep these shades wearing strong and vibrant and as I said since these are a very soft and almost crumbly in texture the Paint Pot has a thick enough formula to help catch the shades and lessen the eyeshadow from falling around your eyes and cheeks. I think it’s a beautiful assortment of shades with a gorgeously textured formula but it can prove a little messy to work with at times.

As I mentioned above I wouldn’t call these shades strictly mattes and shimmers. There’s a few metallic shades here as well as some satins. It almost felt like the palette was dominated by mattes versus any other finish though for some reason. Although I’m not a huge lover of mattes, I failed to be disappointed by this since Lorac’s mattes are quite silky and easy to apply!

It’s funny as some of these Holiday palettes aren’t really very “Holiday” themed in nature. I wouldn’t say the Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette offers any traditional Holiday shades but it does offer a good deal of colors that you can use in daily looks which is priceless to me. Who wants a bunch of shimmery golds and reds that are only suitable for use during the Holiday season when you can have 32 shades that you can work in looks over the next 12 months no matter the season right?

The Lorac Mega Pro 2 Palette has a bit of messy fall out to deal with but overall this palette provides a great selection of shades that are easy to blend, pigmented, and quite gorgeously formulated (so long as the powdery kick up doesn’t bother you too much).

At first I really wanted it. But after seeing how so many shadow crumble I will be passing. Have pro pallets and I dont see so much fall out. My dream pallet would be one that applies effortlessly . I will try vice 4 and tarte holiday pallets.

  • Kait

I got mine during the pre-sale! Their pro formula does kick up a lot of product, but I just do my eyes first before my face to remedy that. And once they apply they don’t budge for me, so I’m totally in love with this. It will go nicely with my Mega Pro 1 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

yay! Glad to hear it 🙂 I really loved it too! Lots of shades to work with here. The powdery kick up is easy enough to handle with a good base 🙂

    • Nicole

Hi Kait. I’m torn on getting this or not. I went bananas trying to score my Mega Pro 1. How do you feel the formula compares between 1 and 2? Thanks! 🙂

  • Katherine T.

Glad some people are liking this, but not for me. I have a Lorac Pro 2 palette, and the shadows are too soft and powdery to stick to my oily lids. I’ve tried all kinds of primers and creamy/tacky bases, might have to try glitter glue next.

  • Jay

I bought this over the weekend because I felt so left out after not getting a first one…but the lighter shades look like they’ll all blend together. After seeing the major powder kick-up, I’m less excited. Thanks for the info Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure Jay! Aw sorry chica 🙁 I hope you like it, let me know what you think when it arrives!

  • Tonya

I missed out on last years so I wanted to make a point of getting this year’s. I’m not liking the colors at all and just don’t think this measures up. I’ll have to look for a different holiday palette instead.

    • Rebekah E

I’m in the same boat. Looking at the palette it just doesn’t appeal to me at all.

  • L

Hi! What blush and lipstick are you wearing in these pictures? I love how the look came out! 🙂

  • Deborah

I’m passing only because I was lucky enough to get last year’s. I love the Blue Quartz and Gold Leaf on you Muse!! 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

THANK YOU 🙂 I was quite happy with those shades used together 🙂 I didn’t get last year’s so I’m happy to have a chance to test out this year’s palette 🙂

  • barbara

the only color that catches my eye is black ivy, but I have last years and so many other lorac palettes, that I just don’t need this one. I have a feeling they made a lot of these. LOL

  • Nicole

Thanks for the review. I so want to love this. I have the first and Pro and Pro 2. I basically like the right half. But, like others are saying that left side all blends into one shade almost. I’m not sure if it’s worth the $60 for me with so many other super great goodies coming out this time of year. So hard to choose. You made a very pretty look here though! I am really looking forward to that blush review now!:)

    • Isabella Muse

Aw thanks! I love this gold and blue! Best shades in the palette imho 😀 I know, there are quite a few lighter shades here :-/ But I still love this palette! These shadows are so dreamy and creamy! Ah blush set review upcoming shortly!

  • Nicole

Argh, there redo, many mixed opinions on this! I wish they would set it out in store so people could swatch first. I’m totally on the fence now.

  • genevieve

Hmmm – this palette is a bit so so for me. First of all I think that some of the matte shades are very similar to each other; then some shades are really crumbly and the pan sizes look smaller. Harder to get your brush into. Thirdly, I love the shimmery shades but too many are not really what I would use. The gold and the blue are definitely the best shades.

  • Amy H.

I noticed that my local Ulta was showing this palette as “in stock” today (10/3), but “coming soon” online. I called the store and she confirmed that they did, in fact, have the palette. I asked her to hold it for me and I’d be right there. Sure enough, I was able to purchase it today!! YAY!!! (Word of warning…check your palette first. The first one was a bit smudged inside).
I’m over the moon THRILLED with knowing I have one and will not fall victim to any problems like people had last year. I was fortunate enough to buy one on lorac.com without any issues last year. So two years in a row with good luck. I hope everyone (who wants one) is able to get it!! Happy holidays. <3

  • d3athbyglitter

BLESS FOR THESE SWATCHES AND REVIEW!!!!! I love Lorac’s formula overall but their mattes are AMAZING! I don’t mind the powdery nature of the formula as I’m accustomed to working with it – totally worth that buttery feel/easy blending/great pigmentation/perfect everything. *definitely a fan* XD

BUT whyyy is there no matte blue to accompany Blue Quartz? *heavy swooning over Blue Quartz* A blue to “match the palette” like last year’s Mulberry / Merlot would have been epic (esp in the Lorac matte formula!)! *le sigh* </3

ITA – this does not look like a holiday palette at all. I also agree that I would rather have a palette I can use year round (though I tend to wear whatever I want whenever I want, lol)! The colors are so pretty and I love that the palette is not overly dark. I think…I think I need it. XD Again, many thanks, Muse! <333

    • Isabella Muse

My pleasure! 🙂 I am too! I have drier eyes ad love their formula! Ahhh yes! A matte blue would be nice indeed 😀 My pleasure dear 🙂 Happy to see how excited you are about it!

  • Nicole

Hey,Amy. I actually was able to pop in on my lunch break the Monday following the release to check out a floor sample and bought it later in the week online. I’ve only used it once so far. I’m liking it more than I expected. I think it needs a primer. Im totally fine with that. I’m glad Lorac apparently stocked this better too!

  • Nicole

This is my favorite holiday palette so Far. I just lightly touch my brush to the shadows to pick up product. That way it doesn’t make such a mess. I have the first palette from last year. I use it a ton, and I will use this one a lot too! UD used to be my favorite formula but I always reach for Lorac now. I will say that this year’s palette has a larger variation of shades compared to the first one.

  • debra

I just bought this one yesterday.i saw the colors and saw all the variety.i liked the buttery feel to the shadows.i treated myself to this, two faced country and the urban decay gwenn palette.yeah I broke down and got that too.i loved the neutrals in there.i am new to all this and only had naked 2 palette so wanted some changes.i used your reviews to help with my choices .thank you so much!! You arw awesome!!

Hi Isabella! I just stumbled across your blog and have really enjoyed what you’ve reviewed and how you describe various products.
I have hazel/green eyes and I was wondering if you knew of any eyeshadow palettes closer to the look of Too Faced’s “Gingerbread Spice”? I want a pallette that has warmer hues (matte and/or sparkly) of red, purple, and green. I know those colors make my eyes pop.
