Chosungah 22 C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation6

Chosungah 22 C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation ($38) is proof Korean beauty is on the rise here in the US. Chosungah 22 was designed by one of Korea’s first makeup artists, Chosungah. She recently brought some of her playful makeup collection to Sephora recently including her C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation.

As someone who collects a variety of Japanese, Taiwanese, and Korean beauty and makeup I can’t say my collection has an extensive amount of Chosungah 22 in it. The brand is well known in Korea for not only performance and quality but also its playful packaging which catches the eye.

Chosungah 22 C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation

Chosungah 22 C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation is a full coverage cream foundation with an SPF 30 that apparently contains firming capsules that hydrate skin. The tiny capsules get mixed with the foundation right before each application which adds a hydrating boast to the foundation.

There are a few different things wrong with this foundation but one of the main things would be the $38 price tag. As much as I love how Korean beauty is becoming more and more common place in the US market I do admit I dislike the huge price mark up on products. Chosungah 22 C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation is about $19 to $20 in Korea where as purchased at Sephora it is marked as $38. Ouch!

Secondly, this formula is promoted as being very hydration but it sets to a more matte finish which adheres to drier areas on my skin rather badly. Although a beautifully creamy consistency I would not say it is hydrating. I also think the description can be inaccurate as they call it a liquid but to me it is very much a cream.

And finally, last rant I promise, the shading seems very off. I ordered the light medium shade which is for light medium shade with yellow undertones or at least that is how it is described. In reality this is a really pale porcelain ivory, no yellow here kids. I look like a ghost in this shade! No bueno! I haven’t tried the medium shade yet which is the next shade up from light medium but I am curious if that might be a better match for me but I have a feeling it’ll be too dark.

I’ll give you some raves to go along with my rants now. This comes in a rather large barrel with an attached sponge applicator for application. It has a little push button located on the side that dispenses a single application right into the sponge. The sponge is very nifty as it buffs in the foundation to a very flawless finish. I like the packaging. It’s easy to use, mess free, and it’s great for travel as well!

Also on the upside if your skin is not dry and the shade matches, well, you’re in for a treat. I moisturized myself to death in order to test this out and I was able to achieve very flawless, even coverage that looked incredible (if not pasty due to the shade)! However, I really had to go all out by using a face oil, moisturizer, and a moisturizing primer otherwise it was quite matte, flat, and dry looking on my skin. I wish it was more moisturizing and I wish the shade matched with my own tone as I’d be quite happy. The coverage is sheer to medium in my opinion and the foundation does have a light lavender-ish scent. It wears for around six hours and shows minor fading at hour seven.

All in all the Chosungah 22 C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation isn’t without flaws particularly in the price department (look for on E-bay or even from your favorite Korean retailers on the Internet as you can save $18 or so dollars versus purchasing from Sephora) but if your skin is considerably more oily than my own you might love the flawless coverage it provides.

Chosungah 22 C&T Blend Fresh Mix Liquid Foundation is available now at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Ooh, I might have to try this! I’m definitely on the pasty side, lol, and most of the foundations that only come in 2-3 shades are way too dark for me. Plus, I tend to be oilier, so this might actually work well for me!
