Jem and the Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick4

The Jem and the Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick ($16) is a limited edition bright fuchsia pink inspired by the new Jem Movie that debuts this Friday. Thus far the lip products in the Jem and the Holograms Makeup Collection seem to be the best because as you know I thought the Truly Outrageous Eyeshadow Palette was a bust.

Strangely enough I have yet to get my hands on the Jem Compact Mirror which hasn’t come into stock so I can’t speak for the quality on that. But I will say the Jem and the Holograms Truly Outrageous Liquid Lip Set and this Truly Outrageous Lipstick are quite lovely. I just wish some of that quality extended to the shadow palette.

Jem and the Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick is 0.134 oz in size and comes housed in a hot pink tube with outlines of lightening bolts decorating the bottom portion of the barrel. Jem’s logo is a pink out against a black background at the tip of the cap where as Sephora’s appears with a lightening bolt on the side of the cap so there isn’t a ton of nods to Jem here aside from that small logo. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I wish there was some nod to the cartoon but this is a movie inspired collection and although Sephora mentioned their being nods to the cartoon that isn’t something clearly visible on the packaging but mostly in the names of the products. Oh well! It’s a nice packaging I guess but it kinda sorta reminds me of something Manic Panic or Lime Crime would have produced.

The lipstick is a bright fuchsia pink but nothing like MAC Candy Yum Yum as I think the shade is considerably deeper compared to MAC’s shade. For some reason I thought this would be another Candy Yum Yum pink but it isn’t. It does however, remind me of MAC Pink Poodle. It has an iridescent balmy finish that isn’t quite matte nor satin. The texture has an easy creamy glide on lips with a hybrid formula that reminds me of part cream part balm. It wears very comfortably on my lips without migrating or feathering and does leave a wicked staining effect behind after it fades. The wear time varied for me but I got around five to six hours of wear before I saw fading. It doesn’t crack, migrate, feather, or dry my lips out during the wear. It feels very comfortably lightweight and a smidge hydrating dare I say. It kinda sorta has a subtle watermelon fragrance and flavor but this is not very noticeable at all.

I don’t really like bright neon pinks but this shade is very wearable. It has a soft iridescence and the color isn’t a bright, in your face pink. It’s quite easy to wear and looks lovely on.

The Jem and the Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick is worth a pick up if you like bright pink lipsticks and if you don’t? I’d try it anyway as it might just surprise. The formula is quite good with a very long wear and a comfortable feel on lips. I don’t know if anything but the color evokes Jem in me but none the less I’m glad I picked it up! I admit though, that I kinda wish it was the lip products that sucked versus the eyeshadow palette….!

So, I considered buying this lipstick, but I realize that what I want more is that mirror that refuses to come in stock. I saw the film tonight and can’t wait to hear your thoughts Muse. I knew that it was nothing like the cartoon and made my peace with that before I entered the theater. In the end, I really enjoyed it as a tribute to the original and thought that it retained the same spirit of the cartoon, even though the plot (and some characters) are entirely different. Hugs.

I don’t think it was ever in stock Anna! boooo! Oh cool! I think I’ll wait for it to come on demand but I’m sure it’ll be one of those corny movies like Spice World that I’ll watch again and again and again hehe! Hugs xoxo!
