MAC Enchanted Eve Essential Brush Kit

The MAC Enchanted Eve Essential Brush Kit ($52.50) is one of several new, limited edition MAC Holiday Makeup Brush Sets that launched with the MAC Holiday 2015 Collection. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one that really enjoys MAC Holiday Brush Sets!

I always look forward to their Holiday sets but I have to admit the prices have climbed up so much higher than when I originally started Musings of a Muse. I hate to say it but $52.50 for five travel size brushes and a makeup case you can do so much better.

MAC Enchanted Eve Essential Brush Kit includes:

  • 168 Large Angled Contour Brush
  • 133 Small Cheek Brush
  • 221 Mini Tapered Blending Brush
  • 239 Eye Shading Brush
  • 219 Pencil Brush
  • Brush Clutch

Broken down each brush will set you back $10.50 (not counting the case they come with) which isn’t too bad a deal but I can’t help but look at brands such as EcoTools, Real Techniques, Sephora, and Sonia Kashuk and think how much more I can get for less.

Price aside I love this set. It’s a great selection brushes with soft bristles and sturdy handles. As I said above, many times I read reviews trashing MAC Holiday Brush Sets but I have to say I’m rarely disappointed in them. I have brushes from Holiday sets for years and years! They retain their shape, never shed, wash well, and apply makeup beautifully!

I liked this set because it contained a nice selection of essentials you’ll reach for daily and included two of my favorite eyes brushes as well the 219 (this is such a fab brush for out corner work or even for brush color into the crease subtly and blending out with the 221) and the 221! There’s no brush in this set that won’t get love and that’s one of the things I like most about it. Too many times you run across brush sets where you end up using two or three of the five brushes in the set. That isn’t the case with this set in my opinion! You’ll make plenty of use of every single brush.

I will say I don’t really love the brush case or makeup bag. It’s thin, small, and the print and design don’t really speak Holiday to me. It’s quite cheesy and won’t act as a makeup bag that you can carry around essential in as it’s a thinner wallet design that you can hold money or coupons in but not a powder compact, lipsticks, etc…!

I also don’t love the blue and purple design! It just doesn’t feel Holiday enough to me but I do love the fact that each of the brushes has a different color band!

The MAC Enchanted Eve Essential Brush Kit is a bit pricey for what you get but I will say I really enjoyed the set and think it has a very nice essential brushes!

The MAC Enchanted Eve Essential Brush Kit is available now on counters or grab it online at Nordstrom.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I picked up this brush set, the eye sets, and the 2 highlighters the other day at belk. they had 20% off plus if you open a line of credit you got another 20% off so I got 40% off my purchase. that was a happy day. 🙂 I took advantage of that sale at other counters in a big way.
