Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick

I would say that the Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick ($10.99) falls into the YOU NEED this list. So please by all means place it on that wish list or just go to Target right now and get it because well, as I said, you NEED IT!

Far be it from me to recommend strobing or highlighting of any kind as I am no expert at the contouring game and my feeble attempts at actually trying it have all ended in tears and heartbreak. But, no seriously, as much as I want to tell you all about the incredible contouring techniques I’ve developed since the contour trend hit this Spring, I simply have no stories, tips, or tricks to share because I suck at it.

‘Nuff said.

I’ll leave contouring to the experts and but I will use the Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick to make my face all brighter and happier.

Take a peek!

The Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick is probably one of my favorite makeup picks at the moment. I’ve been using it for over a month along with my concealer and I’m happy to say I love it.

So what is it, what’s it do, how do I use it?

Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick is a chubby little twist up contour stick that’s a lighter beige shade which will work best with lighter to light medium skin tones. It’s a cream stick that you can use to brighten certain areas on your face. Now, technically, you want something a little darker to contour with so Sonia’s stick is more about adding light versus shadowing. This isn’t to say this is shimmery nor will it act as a highlighter. The lighter beige shade does in fact have absolutely no sparkle, shimmer, or glow. It’s simply a very flattering shade of beige that will add touches of light around your face so used along with a bronzer you’ll be able to sculpt, define, and brighten up your face.

As I said I’m no contouring genius and if you aren’t either that doesn’t mean you don’t need this little stick? Why? Because it’s incredible to brighten up your entire eye area. Here’s how!

I remember reading a Bobbi Brown Makeup Book that explained you should conceal under your eyes but also bring your concealer down into the hollows into your eyes to the very top of your cheek bones as this would create a well rested look. I’ve used this technique for literally years now and it is the by far the most incredible makeup advice I’ve every gotten. So now instead of focusing just under my eyes I tend to kinda draw a triangle with my concealer around my eyes to a little bit below my cheek bones and I blend, blend, blend, blend out my concealer to a soft focus. This really helps to brighten up my eyes but also to give them a lifted appearance.

This is where Sonia’s handy little stick comes into play. Use your concealer under your eyes and blend as normal. Now swipe the stick into the hollows under your eyes and to the top or even a little below your cheek bones. Use a brush or a sponge to gently tap and blend the color out. Done! Now add color to your face as normal and you’ll have a completely well rested, brightened up eye look.

This stuff is a wizard at adding a very lovely brightness to this area of my face and gives my eyes a delightfully refresh, well rested appearance. LOVE IT! I know a lot of youTuber gurus use Benefit Lemon Aid in a similar fashion but I feel more comfortable using this as it matches my skin tone quite well and it’s easier to blend. The texture does run a bit drier and isn’t as creamy as I would like but I didn’t have issues with it cracking or fading (it wears all day!).

So yeah, I’m not contouring wizard but at least I’m successful at creating a well rested look under my eyes but of course, the Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Contour Stick does most of the work for me.

Do grab this one!

    Hi Muse!

Finally, a review on on this – I’ve had my eye on it for some time now! Now I have to go out and get it lol. I wonder if the dark contour stick is great as well, thats next on the list!

Hi Marcy! I don’t have the dark one but highly recommend the light 🙂 It’s perfect for the hollow of eyes to brighten up the area 🙂 very cool stuff! Hope you like!

I have the contour stick, and while I like, I don’t love it… The texture/formula is nice, but it runs quite warm. I use it *under* my foundation, which does help a lot. It kind of reminds me of NARS Laguna, but without the shimmer.

“…so used in conjunction with a browser…”, made me smile this morning.
    Thanks for the review!

sorry! Most days I’m doing 500 things at once and I make a ton of mistakes wince! You’re very welcome!

Hello!! Just wondering is this contour stick too creamy to to use on top of powder foundation? I use bare minerals foundation and am looking for a drugstore product to contour my face. Thanks!

honestly, I’ve never used cream on to of powder Aly so I’m not sure. It’s a drier dense stick so not really super creamy or hydrating. I typically apply cream before any powders, seems less messy to do it that way.
