Besame Lipstick & Matchbook Set

The Besame Lipstick & Matchbook Set ($23) is a new, limited edition Besame Holiday 2015 release that’s available at Sephora. Besame is just in its infancy stages at Sephora but I thought it rather delightful they have a few lovely little Holiday gift sets available!

This little set is perfect for those looking for a festive Holiday red lipstick!

Ahh red lipstick! It’s the quintessential shade of the season isn’t it? I can go through literally millions of red and out of all those shades I’ll come out with maybe one or two I actually like. Because we all know that shopping red lipstick is a chore and much like finding a needle in a haystack! Finding the perfect red can be a chore but it can be very, very rewarding when you find that one shade that doesn’t make you look like a clown when you’re wearing it!

The Besame Lipstick & Matchbook Set includes a full size Besame Lipstick in the shade Red Velvet 1946 which is a highly wearable mid-tone neutral red that’s warm, festive, or utterly gorgeous. Also included in this set is a little matchbox containing five lipstick “matches” that can be torn off and used to touch up color on the go. Since Besame’s lipsticks are typically $22 each you get a little bit of a bonus with this set as for a dollar you get the matches which are typically $6 per pack so the savings here is about $5.

I do think it deserves to be mentioned that the matches were a LITTLE hard to tear off without getting lipstick on my hands. I thought they were super handy to have for touch ups and took no room in my makeup bag but tearing each “match” off was a little difficult. On that note I will say they actually contain enough color to reapply your entire lip look in a hurry plus they are small enough to even act as a liner of sorts.

Besame’s formula is wonderfully rich in pigment and provides opaque color on a single application that wears for a solid five to six hours without fading, migrating, or feathering. The finish is a satiny matte that’s very classic and old worldly. This is the lipstick of pin ups and glamour girls! It just gives off a very old, classic Hollywood feel that’s elegant and sophisticated. Color glides on beautifully and doesn’t tug during application plus it feels very lightweight on but not terribly moisturizing but not drying either. There is a very, very faint vanilla flavor but no fragrance I detected.

Love the packaging and color — real retro pin-up girl vibe. You look nice in this color, and I don’t think red makes you look like a clown. It’s all in your head 🙂

OMG I LOVE it! It looks great on you, IT’S NOT MATTE (yay!)!!!!! and it’s a good shade of red for me, too! I hope they have this in the Sephora store in my area. I want to see it in person, too.
