MAC Berry Black Friday Patentpolish Lip Pencil1

MAC Berry Black Friday Patentpolish Lip Pencil ($20) is a limited edition MAC Patentpolish Lip pencil that will be available for a limited time, online only, for Black Friday (November 27th) on MAC’s website.

MAC has a long standing tradition of releasing one product each year for Black Friday that sells out rather quickly. In most cases, it’s some variation of a black or gray in color but this year the MAC Berry Black Friday Patentpolish Lip Pencil takes on vampy with purple berry shade.

Take a peek!

MAC Patentpolish Lip Pencils launched in 2014 which was a little late by chubby lip pencil standards but none the less I think it was an exciting launch as I remember have that moment of, “Finally! MAC is launching a chubby lip pencil!”

Berry Black and really any of the Patentpolish Lip Pencil you may pick up now or have picked up in the past are somewhat expensive. There are a good deal of chubby pencils in the drugstore world at the moment that will set you back $6 to $8 which are just as good if not better than MAC’s formula and even Clinique’s own Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm is cheaper than the $20 MAC Patentpolish Lip Pencil.

The good news is MAC has a unique formula and texture that isn’t quite like many brands. This is a chubby twist up pencil that has a domed tip that reminds me of Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes. I love the dome tip! It fits the contour of my lips quite nicely and makes application very easily. If you like and fill with your chubby pencils sadly you won’t be able to do so whti MAC’s version but personally I like how easily I can apply using this shape.

The formula has a nice grip that hugs lips but doesn’t feel sticky or tacky. It’s not a lightweight texture by any means but it provides light moisture and it feels comfortable on lips. The formula has a nice bit of glossiness to it and shine. It feels very balmy at first application but as it warms up it feels considerably more slicker. I always feel that at the begining of my application that color tugs a bit on lips and accentuates dryness but as it warms up color begins to look considerably better and shiner! I still feel they apply with a bit of a tug though and tend to fall into my natural lip lines if I don’t go over the color a few times.

This color is a unique purple berry with cooler undertones and a very nice shine. It’s pretty sheer all in all but it builds nicely! But again, I still felt the color accentuated my natural lip lines and the dryness of my lips.

I’m sure if you love purple lipsticks that the MAC Berry Black Friday Patentpolish Lip Pencil will be a given pick up for you. I’m a bit meh on it myself! There are SO many chubby lip pencil options around with far superior formulas but none the less Berry Black Friday will get plenty of attention from MAC lovers and fans out there come Black Friday.

Will you be one of the makeup addicts out there picking it up?

VerypPretty purple, but I saw swatches on another blog, and it looked very sheer, like tinted lip balm -wonder if different tubes have different pigmentation?

It likely depends how pigmented your lips are. My lips are pretty rosy so it shows up very nicely on me 🙂

I love this but since it’s MAC and it’s an LE, I’m sure it will be sold out in a quarter of a nanosecond after they put it on the website.

I do like this, but I can easily get something like it at Walmart(ugh) for 5 bucks!! Personally, i have never liked Mac’s lip products. Oh well!! What a gorgeous color though. It looks amazing on you too!!

I remember some years had more difficult to pull off lip colours. I’m tempted to get this but will have to use some self-control despite it being lovely. I have a lot of lip colours and there are a few other LEs I have my eye on which I love more.

This looks beautiful on you! I’m so glad I found this swatch, thanks! I love purple lippies and hope I can get one before they sell out.
