Maybelline Cocoa Crush Baby Lips Lip Balm Review & Swatches

Maybelline Baby Lips Winter Edition

Maybelline Cocoa Crush Baby Lips Lip Balm is a new limited edition flavored tinted lip balm that launched with the new Maybelline Baby Lips Winter Edition Collection for Holiday 2015.

As I mentioned in my prior post, tis the season for stocking stuffers and these cute new flavors are fantastic for tucking into a young girl (or guys) stocking this season or if you’re a Baby Lips collector you might want to grab a few for yourself.

Each of the limited edition Holiday Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms come in a different flavor and color. Obviously the Maybelline Cocoa Crush Baby Lips Lip Balm is supposed to taste like cocoa and it does for like a hot flash of a second. I find the flavor kinda disappeared during my test phase so my first application tasted like a subtle chocolate flavor but after using the balm a few times the flavor has seemed to disappear from it.

The shade, contrary to what I had hoped for, isn’t a chocolate-y shade. I actually think a lighter sheer chocolate could look quite nice on my pigmented lips but this is actually a pinky beige shade that applies as a light, subtle beige. It can potentially be a little zombie looking in a certain light OR if you’re lucky it gives off a nice, natural nude vibe on lips. It really depends. For me it worked either/or as sometimes it looked good and other times it looked like I was living dead girl.

I’m not really a huge Baby Lips kinda girl as I don’t find them terribly hydrating. They provide lightweight moisture and are fun to have in your makeup bag or desk drawer for a little quickie bit of color but the eight hours of moisture promise is a little far out there.

All in all Maybelline Cocoa Crush Baby Lips Lip Balm is likely best suited for the Baby Lips fans or collectors out there but if you already dislike these you likely don’t need the new, limited edition Holiday shades.

You can get Maybelline Cocoa Crush Baby Lips Lip Balm now at drugstores.

I purchased this item.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’m not a huge fan of these either but anything that says “cocoa” always reels me in. I just got the Burt’s Bees Mint Cocoa and am annoyed with myself that I did.

Hmm, bummer. I was kinda hoping for a glorious rosy/chocolatey brown nude. Oh well :/
