Covergirl Trublend Face Primer Review & Swatches

Covergirl Trublend Face Primer

Covergirl Trublend Face Primer for dry skin is one of three new permanent face primers that arrives with the Covergirl Spring 2016 Collection.

I was actually a little skeptical about trying Covergirl Trublend Face Primer because it looked like a repackaged version of Covergirl Outlast All Day Primer but it thankfully is not.

Covergirl Trublend Face Primer is available in an oily, combo, and dry skin formula. I could likely get away with the combo formula but since Winter is setting in my skin is a lot tighter so I went ahead and indulged in the dry skin formula.

I purchased mine from Harmons for $7.99. It’s a 1 oz squeeze tube so application is pretty much mess free and the tube is small and easy to store and/or travel with.

This a little bit of a weird formula as it has a slightly greasy consistency. If you aren’t really paying attention you might not notice that greasiness but I tend to over analyze everything and to me it felt a little unusual. It’s a light white cream which feels a little oily at first application but absorbs fully and leaves behind a nice moist surface for foundation to adhere to. It does a second though to settle down so you’re left feeling soft versus feeling greasy or at least that’s how I felt. I actually liked it because it felt very moisturizing yet had a little bit of a silkiness to it as well. I think foundation applied beautifully on top of it as it made my skin smoother and softer which caused my foundation to apply more easily and look more smoother and flawless. It kept my foundation quite fresh all day as well.

It does have a WEIRD smell. It kinda smells like a stale sugar cookie or something and the scent is strong so just a heads up for those who are sensitive.

I wouldn’t say Covergirl Trublend Face Primer was groundbreaking or life changing but it did provide quite nice moisture and left my skin silky, smooth, and prepped nicely for makeup! It might be worth a try if you can find it on sale!

Tried it already?

Do share your thoughts on it!

I’m liking the Kat Von D primer (was recommended to me by a person with very dry skin), but this is a much more budget friendly. Glad it’s working for you !

It looks a great primer, but why do the DS brands ruin eveything by adding a perfume? CG should know by now that many people cannot tolerate strong scents on their skin. This could put people off from buying the product. Thanks for the review Isabella.

Odd scent, smells like self tanner or my dog in need of a bath (strange but true). Don’t notice the scent after awhile on face.
