L'Oreal Infallible Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner2

L’Oreal Infallible Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner ($8.99) is a new permanent matte eyeliner that’s launching with the L’Oreal Spring 2016 Collection at drugstores now in four shade selections.

Shoot! Score! L’Oreal does it again!

L’Oreal has consecutively released excellently formulated eyeliners for the past several years starting with my personal favorite LOreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner which holds a coveted spot on my Best Drugstore Eyeliner (and the worst) list!

But LOreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner is just the tip of the iceberg! Don’t forget L’Oreal’s fantastic LOreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners as well as LOreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil. Let’s just say L’Oreal has been on the game with their eyeliners lately and they bring us yet another fantastic formula with the new Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner Pencil!

L'Oreal Infallible Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner

Gone are the days when having a lighter on handy was the norm during eyeliner application. Ya know, because the damn eyeliner was so dense you had to heat it up and melt it down for creamy application.

Toss that lighter.

Drugstore eyeliners have evolved. And they are as creamy and as luxurious some of my favorite eyeliners like Urban Decay’s popular 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils!

L’Oreal Infallible Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner is the answer to the call of oily lid girls everywhere who just couldn’t get on board with the creamier and glossier consistency of some of L’Oreal’s more recent eyeliner offerings. This is a pure matte finish eyeliner with a super creamy texture that glides across your lash line like butter, smudges, and smokes out to picture perfect flawlessness plus it wears like a boss on waterlines. And yeah, it’s better than Urban Decay Black Velvety 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil at half the price!

I should say I’m not a huge fan of matte eye pencils as I like a more glossier formula. I also find matte eyeliners are rather dry and dense. Not the case with L’Oreal’s formula. This is a soft, creamy consistency. I will say mattes are fabulous for waterline work especially ones with such a creamy consistency. This is great for applying at the waterline as the matte finish holds up a lot better than a glossier pencil and you’ll get a longer wear from it. Likewise for those with oilier eyelids that needs some matte enough to wear without smudging. I have drier eyes and I had no issues with it smudging once it set (within a few seconds) and it wore well until I took it off. On my waterline I got about five hours of wear before I needed a touch up.

I’d change one thing though. I used to be obsessed with mechanical pencils but now I find them a pain so I’d totally dig a regular old pencil. I find pencils last me longer as well!

Aside from that, I really liked L’Oreal Infallible Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner.

L’Oreal Infallible Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner is available now at drugstores or at drugstore.com.

Haha! I forgot all about having to carry a lighter around, so you could get your little red Maybelline eye pencil to actually leave product behind instead of just scratching at your eyelid. And the occasional smear of black panda eyes when you heated it up too long and didn’t let it cool enough.

This looks like a must have for me, I agree auto liners don’t last long but they’re so convenient, and I’ve had trouble finding matte pencils that are that deep in color! If it lasts half as long as L’Oreal’s gel liner, then it would be worth it, that stuff is amazing.

Exactly, yes! The little red Maybelline pencils! The Millennial generation just doesn’t realize how lucky they are to have been born into an area of nice, creamy liners… One of the most vivid memories I have of Middle/High School is walking into the girls bathroom, with multiple cans of AquaNet going off, as several others were “Flicking their Bic’s”; I’m surprised we never heard of any schools burning down in the 80’s…

Muse, that is wonderful, a drug store liner that works and stays in the water line! I can only get one to stay on me ( my W/L). Ill be trying this one. Thanks for the review 🙂

I’ve loved L’Oréal eyeliner for well over 25 years, and have never been let down by any of the formulations I’ve tried. My very first experience with them was around 1987, when no other DS eyeliner could be applied to the waterline without pulling out the ol’ Bic, LOL! Plus, even the “traditional” pencils lasted *ages*; even with sharpening as needed, with daily use, they lasted over a year… With the exception of Lancome liners, I have yet to find anything that comes even close (of course, there have been many exact formula dupes between the 2 brands, which are both owned by L’Oréal).

Oh awesome! I’m an oily lid gal, so a long lasting matte eye liner sounds great. Also, since I usually wear shimmery shadows, I need a matte eyeliner to help “anchor” the look. I’m eyeing the charcoal, as it’s a harder to find color

I’m going to have to try this one out! I have a strong dislike of the Silkissime pencil. I was so excited to try that one but I tightlined my eyes twice and both times the pigment would manage to get on my contacts even after I cleaned my contacts. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong! I will definitely be trying this new one though!

The formula looks great, I’m definitely going to look for these. I feel like this is a stupid question, but how do you sharpen mechanical pencils once they lose their point? A lot of them say self sharpening, but I roll them up and down in the tube and nothing happens. People seem to like them, but I can’t stand having a big dull point. Am I missing something really obvious?

  • Rah

Yes, I remember lighting up and waving the flame under the Red Maybelline eyebrow pencil while my friend sprayed the heck out her feathered hair with Aqua Net (White/Pink can)…haha great 80s memories. I’m looking forward to trying this and once again Thank you for the review.

While I do love this eyeliner, I think I may be allergic to it! My eyes are red and burning in the exact spots I wear it! Anyone else have this problem?

  • Linda Lou Taylor

This eyeliner is the worst I’ve ever used!
It crumbles, it doesn’t spread on your eyes at all !
If there is any moisture, forget it!!!!
It’s a waste of your money!!
