MAC Enchanted Eve Red Lip Bag

Today is about festive red lipsticks! Next up on my list is the MAC Enchanted Eve Red Lip Bag which includes MAC Lipstick in Pretty Irresistible, MAC Lipglass in A Favorite Flame, and MAC Lip Pencil in Beet.

Think of it as your one stop kit for creating perfectly flawless Holiday lips!

The MAC Enchanted Eve Red Lip Bag is one of several MAC Holiday 2015 Gift Sets for lips that includes three full size MAC Lip products at the value price of $39.50. If you purchased these items separately it would set you back about $50 so you save a few bucks purchasing the set plus you get a nifty little makeup bag as well.

I will say this, it’s not a value for me because I kinda toss the lip liner to the side. I’m not really a lip liner kinda girl and I very, very, very rarely use one and if I do it is typically a transparent one. So if you don’t use lip liner you might second guess a purchase of this set.

On that note, I have to say I love what’s inside.

First off you do get a slim line makeup bag that everything comes tucked up in. As you already know MAC includes cutesy makeup bags with all their Holiday offerings. I’d just like to throw it out there I find the bags hit or miss. This year it’s a miss for. I don’t like the design! It doesn’t really scream Christmas or Holiday to me. The bag is black with a 1980ish layered mirror design in metallic purple and blue. I’m just not into it. Both the barrel of the lipstick and cap of the lipgloss have the same design. What do you think of the design? Like it?

I might not love the packaging but I do love the contents (aside from the lip liner that is).

MAC calls Pretty Irresistible Lipstick a matte raspberry red. Honestly, it doesn’t look matte nor does it feel matte! It’s kinda a semi-matte balmy consistency with a cream-like texture that glides very nicely on lips with a hint of a sheen. I wouldn’t call it raspberry either! To me it’s a slightly warmer cherry red. It applies very well and wears on lips comfortably without being dry nor hydrating either. I can get about 4 hours from the shade before it fades at around hour five but in that time it didn’t migrate nor did it feather.

MAC A Favorite Flame Lipglass is a nice raspberry red with a hint of sparkle. It actually has really nice pigmentation with a wear of about three hours with a little bit of a tacky, sticky consistency.

These look great paired together! A Favorite Flame gives Pretty Irresistible a little lightness and a fair bit of shine and shimmer. They make the perfect Holiday lip look used together but they also work incredibly well when worn individually.

I’m with you on the packaging. It’s got a very 1980s techno music feel to it, not very holiday-ish or appealing to me. But the lip colors are very beautiful on your lips. I did get 2 shadows from this collection and WOW! The blue ( The Moon is Blue) is one of the boldest, most pigmented blues I’ve ever run into, and the purple (Ascent of Glamour) has flecks of teal glitter embedded in it. Really stunning

Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, and Macy’s still have some in stock! They got rave reviews. I swatched all of them in store, and they are awesome (super pigmented and smooth) except for Night Thrills (gold, was dry and patchy). My recs are The Moon is Blue (bold blue), Ascent of Glamour (purple w/teal microglitter), and Tonight is the Night (dark teal). No Taboos is good too, but I don’t wear black shadow that often.

I have this and I love the lipstick! It’s my favorite formula. With Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone underneath, it will last 12 hrs + – WITH eating, I’m not kidding! That’s why mattes are my favorites. I prefer to wear the lipstick with Cherry lipliner though.

Maybe not the most holiday-esque, but I kind of like the packaging. Kind of reminds me of Tron. 🙂
