Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Cushion Eyeliner + Serum ($11.95) is a new liquid cushion eyeliner that’s launching for Spring 2016 and will be part of the permanent Physicians Formula Eye Booster Collection.

Ahhh cushion eyeliners not so new or innovative an idea but one we haven’t yet seen from the drugstore world particularly one that contains a lash boosting complex so props to PF for being the first to launch a cushion eyeliner to the budget beauty and one that’s good for your lashes.

In 2014, the Etude House Summer Collection launched and with it we got out firs peek at Etude House Cushion Lock ‘n Liner which was a brand new, innovative cushion eyeliner that excited many and also disappointed most! Stila was quick to follow by releasing Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner with their Stila Modern Goddess Fall 2015 Collection.

I’d love to tell you what a great success Etude House’s formula was but sadly it was a mess. Dry, incredibly difficult to apply, and just not what anyone expected. Stila produced a far better version by far!

Now finally the drugstore world is getting on the fact and we have Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Cushion Eyeliner + Serum to look forward to. This was released in a single shade that I purchased at Harmons. To say I was excited is an understatement. I’m just really, really always so incredibly wowed how much Asian, particularly Korean, beauty has influenced our makeup brands lately.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Cushion Eyeliner + Serum comes in a small pot which has a large funnel lid which pays home to the liner brush. Slip the liner brush out of the funnel, unscrew the pot or cushion of eyeliner from the bottom, and you’re good to go. According to the box this formula enhances lashes and improves their density personally I’ve only used it a short time so I can’t say if my lashes look fuller or if they are any stronger. But it does contain a lash boosting complex that apparently strengthens and volumnizes lashes with use.

Allow me to digress for a second, if you’re confused by me tossing around the word cushion. That’s exactly what this is. Physicians Formula saturated a little cushion or a sponge if you will with black eyeliner and stuck it in the pot. I’m always a little skeptical of cushions like this as I worry they’ll dry out with time. I have some of Stila’s eyeliners and so far after a few months they are holding up well but I wonder what will happen given more time? I can’t really say if this will or won’t dry out as I just got it but it is one of my concerns with products like this.

To use the cushion, you just drag the brush they provided you with right across it and it’ll saturate easily with eyeliner. The eyeliner is a rich, dark black shade and it applies easily enough however, it does set almost instantly to a matte finish and I had to go over the liner a few times to get a straight even line. It actually smudged a bit during the process and I ended up with more of a smoked out liner look. It also tended to smudge during the wear so my suggestion is start out with a smudged look and you won’t have an issue however, if you’re looking for a flawless cat eye this MIGHT not get it for you. I was ok with the smudge-y smoky look but disappointed I couldn’t get just a straight even line with it. Although matte it still managed to smudge up a bit on my lash line! It didn’t leave me with racoon eyes but it wasn’t exactly flawless either as the day progressed.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Cushion Eyeliner + Serum is definitely something new and exciting for US drugstores that much is true. But cushion eyeliners aren’t always the easiest product in the world to use especially if you’re looking for a flawless, straight even line.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Cushion Eyeliner + Serum is available now at drugstores.

I purchased this item.

I personally would not buy this! It seems like a much greater investment to just buy a gel liner… if anything I would buy it for the brush.

Adding that it also seems like it doesn’t actually have a lot of product. I had to throw my gel liner away after almost a year, but it wasn’t even half empty. This seems like it would be gone within 3 or 4 months.

Wouldn’t buy this either. I’m not into this whole cushion makeup trend because I don’t understand the appeal of a sponge soaked in makeup. What is the sponge supposed to do? I don’t think it makes the actual product any better or different. I guess it is just for “fun”? I also think these products will dry up over time unless you use them everyday or at least pretty frequently. Also, it sounds like this particular formula is not good. Thanks for the great review, Muse.

I bought one and opened it up to the cushion dried; it didn’t work at all .-. Disappointed

The same thing just happened to me! I’m so annoyed, I was really stoked about this cause physicians formula is always amazing, in my opinion, and was pretty surprised when I opened it and saw the cushion thing was completely dried out! So annoying… Hopefully I can return it tomorrow or at least exchange it for something better!

I loved this eye liner! When I got it, I almost threw it away because it was dried out. I ended up putting a few drops of water in it and squishing it around to mix. I have now been using this liner for months (more than 4 months, but then I don’t really put much on). I really liked the hard applicator -it made it easy to apply.
