Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer Review & Swatches

Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer5

Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer ($9.99) is a new, permanent face primer that launched with the Milani Spring 2016 Collection. This formula promises to soften the appearance of finer line and larger pores while creating a smooth, matte finish on skin to extend the length and wear of foundation.

If you’re dry like me you might want to go with the new Milani Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer as Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer is all about matte.

Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer arrives in a 0.68 oz squeeze tube for $9.99. I got mine via Milani’s site and it actually arrived a bit separated. I live in New York and it’s currently pretty cold, I’m not sure where Milani ships from (maybe CA?) but the first time I used this it came out in a wet separated mix. Be sure to shake the tube hard before applying. After shaking it, I had no issues.

This is a thin translucent gel that sits very, very unnaturally atop my drier skin. It’s obviously best suited for oily skin as it delivers a light, thin layer of silicon that creates a barrier between skin and makeup.

I thought the texture very interesting because unlike thicker silicon primers, I’m talking to you Smashbox, this absorbs into a very, very thin layer on skin. I think it’ll do well mattifying mildly oily skin and will reduce shine instantly upon application. It’s also puts lays a nice thin layer of silicon across skin for foundation to adhere which means your foundation is less likely to oxidize and fade quickly.

During my testing, as I mentioned above, this wasn’t quite working for me as my skin is very dry at the moment. I will say it made my foundation last very nicely however, it wasn’t quite laying well on my dry skin so I’m putting it away and revisiting it in the Summer when my skin starts produces a bit more oily.

As of now I’ll say I’m impressed with the texture and thinness of the product. I like how it isn’t a suffocating silicon primer that makes me itchy. Oily skin should get on well with this.

Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Face Primer is launching now at drugstores.

I purchased this item.

Muse, thanks for the review. As you know I’m a Milani fan and I like a dewy finish on my skin. I’ll have to pass on this one. But the eye colors, jumbo crayons, and lipsticks are awesome. 🙂
