Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand Dynamic Duo Lift & Light Reflector ($45) is a dual ended concealer slash eye cream that promises to give eyes a lifted, wide awake appearance. Since I’m having great success with the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Trio I purchased I decided that my next purchase would be the Mini Miracle Eye Wand Dynamic Duo Lift & Light Reflector as I liked the idea of not only having a little concealer but also an eye cream to prep with.

I wasn’t taking into consideration how quickly I’d run through this product because you are sharing a space between two different formulas which means each is split into nearly half the amount you’d get from say Touche Eclat Radiant Touch. Charlotte formula is also a little pricer by $3. Now my personal recommendation and one that is a little cheaper than both Charlotte Tilbury and YSL would be Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen which is $38 (I did a little YSL and Dior Comparison years ago if you want to take a look).

Anyway, this is a review of Charlotte’s formula so let’s backtrack a little bit.

Everyone can take a note from the French girl’s guide to natural makeup. French women are obviously very, very confidence in their looks as they wear so very little makeup yet manage to pull off elegance perfectly. While I’m sitting here trying hard to conceal my dark circles with the most concentrated, pigmented concealer around, French women simply embrace their dark circles. A little bit of eye cream and perhaps a click or two of Touche Eclat Radiant Touch and they are good to go. They simply are not as obsessed with dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness as Americans are apparently.

I think that is in fact the general idea of products like Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand Dynamic Duo Lift & Light Reflector. A little sheer coverage that uses light to brighten eyes up and reflect away from dark circles, finer lines, etc….

Now if I’m being technical I’d say that Dior and YSL are the better options compared to Charlotte’s formula. Her formula is very, very, very sheer. Granted, this isn’t supposed to act as a full coverage concealer but I think that’s where Dior and YSL are a better option as they are a bit more pigmented and they do a better job not only concealing minor imperfects but also reflecting away from them. If you’re 20, bright eyed, and bushy tailed well this is a great pick for you! If you’re in your 30’s, 40’s, or beyond I think you might be disappointed. According to the brand this is a “miracle wand that treats and transforms eyes” so you look like you had eight hours of sleep in two clicks. Mmm not so much.

As I said this is a dual ended product which I really loved but I also find I run through it very, very quickly because of this. The eye cream is a very light, cooling cream that’s thin in texture and absorbs easily. I wouldn’t say it treats finer lines but it adds nice, light moisture under eyes and preps them for the concealer end of the wand. Although the brand does promote it as something to tauten the eye skin under eyes and firm it up! I can’t say I notice that myself. The concealer is a very thin formula that’s lightly hydrating and sheer. It applies very easily and blends out just as easily without creasing into finer lines or looking dry. It sadly sheers out a lot as you blend so coverage is very, very minimal and I wouldn’t say it offers any glow or light reflecting pigments to blur the appearance of darkness.

I purchased two shades which were 2 and 3. 2 was too light and pink where as 3 was too orange and dark so the colors are a little difficult to get a handle on in my experience. I’d swatch them in store if possible or even have a rep from the brand perhaps help you decide.

All in all Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand Dynamic Duo Lift & Light Reflector doesn’t quite live up to the hype I keep seeing across the blogsphere. For me YSL and Dior still offer the cheaper and more superior formula. I liked the idea of a dual ended product but I realized that this also means I’d run low on concealer rather quickly!

Hi Muse! I have really been underwhelmed by the whole Charlotte Tilbury line. I did like the sample I had of one of the “Magic” creams, but I’ve seen the makeup in person and it’s just…meh. The shades are difficult to figure out, as you experienced with the concealer, and her blushes and lip colors lean very warm, which doesn’t work for me. Just my 2 cents… and thank you for all of the effort you put into your wonderful blog!

Hi Nina! How are you? Whatcha think of the magic cream? I think they are fab, very moisturizing, BUT man they are over hyped to death! The moisture factor is fab but the entire your skin will glow and you’ll like as fresh as a daisy isn’t really happening haha! 🙂 Aw :-/ Sorry to hear it.
