Do You Apply Your Foundation or Your Concealer First?

foundation or concealer

When you’re getting ready for apply your base products which do you typically apply first? Foundation followed by concealer or concealer followed by foundation?

I don’t use concealer on my face but I do use it under my eyes so that’s the area I start with first. I apply my concealer under my eyes and I apply Benefit Lemon-Aid on my lids. After that I apply my foundation.

What about you?

Which is first?

Do share your application technique and why you do it that way!

If I’m using a liquid foundation, I’ll do it afterwards but if it’s BareMinerals powder foundation I’ll do my concealer before 🙂

I go back and forth between the two methods! Basically if I’m really having a bad skin situation I apply foundation first to give me a better idea where I need to focus my concealer efforts. And if my skin looks pretty healthy when I start, I apply concealer first and then usually get away with one less pump of foundation. So…both!

Yup me too! Now I put liquid foundation on first then I highlight & conceal.

Foundation first. It gives the concealer something to adhere to. Otherwise, it just melts off my oily skin or becomes oxidized.

Somehow concealers haven’t looked good on me yet! 🙁 Waiting to find that holy grail product.I might be using the wrong type of undereye concealer, I dunno.. So I just stick to a light base of foundation. I prefer a sheer coverage 🙂 makes my face look a lot healthier.. Nice topic!

Have you tried It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concealer? It’s amazing! I use that and then layer Mac Prep & Prime Highlighter over it to brighten the look.

As of right now, I have no good concealer and no setting powder, so my method is:
    Moisturize
    Thin layer of liquid foundation
Second thin layer over spots I would normally use concealer on
    Set with powder foundation

Surprisingly, it doesn’t look too cakey. ;P

I dot Tarte concealer under my eyes and around my nose where it tends to get red, then apply my Iope cushion foundation.

I’ve always done foundation first. I like to see what needs concealing after foundation so that I don’t go too overboard and end up cakey. Recently my under eyes have taken more care and per suggestion I have started applying my corrector shade first then blending on foundation and following with concealer. So far that’s been the key.

I first use a concealer followed by my I CONCEAL flawless foundation beige which I brought from http://www..com/, and I am ready for any kind of functions!

It depends on the type of foundation I am using, when I’m using a powder foundation I conceal first when using a liquid/cream foundation I do it after.

  • Paula

I use concealer first because once I cover up any spots and imperfections then I can get away with less foundation on my face.

I use concealer then foundation, but, if I need more concealer then I apply after as well

  • Rah

Concealer then foundation then concealer again. Works like a charm.
When I use Estee’s Double Wear, there is really no need for concealer. I love to mix up my beauty routine every so of often.
