J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint

J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint is a total cheap dupe up of OCC Lip Tar!

Not that Lip Tar is expensive at this point as many of the shades are $9 since they brand repackaged them. Lip Tar is a pretty darn great product but I’ve always felt the packaging is faulty as the formula separates and gets rather gross. A quick shape of the tube typically solves this issue but there have been times I grab a shade and forget to shake, proceed to squeeze, and I get a bunch of oil separated color. Gross!

But this isn’t about Lip Tar, this is all about J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint and its cheap as chips $4.99 price tag.

J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint in a 15 shade selection of bright, pigmented colors and comes housed in a 0.33 oz tube. Unlike Lip Tar they do not come with a lip brush for application but I’m not bothered with that at all. This are very, very intense so you do need a pretty steady hand for application as they can be a little messy to apply so a lip brush does help things a long as well. The fact they don’t come with a lip brush isn’t a big issue for me as the one with the Lip Tar’s is a little small anyway.

I’d say this formula is very much like Lip Tar although a lot less thin and runny. It’s quite thick, quite pigmented, with a light plastic-y peppermint flavor (Lip Tar’s mint flavor is a lot nicer). I purchased and tried the shade Golden Afternoon and it wore a solid six hours on my lips without cracking or fading. It doesn’t migrate once it sets but on the initial application I do have to wait a few seconds and not move my lips around too much or it will creep up my upper lip line. The set time is seconds so it isn’t a huge wait period.

The formula starts out very “wet” and glossy but it sets to a satiny semi-matte finish that wears comfortable without sucking moisture from my lips but not providing any either.

It is very much like Lip Tar in the fact the formula separates when left alone for too long so you want to make sure you shake it prior to use.

All in all J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint is a nice beauty budget contender for Lip Tar’s formula that packs on color with a very little price tag.
