NYX Hydra Touch Primer Review & Swatches
NYX Hydra Touch Primer ($13.99) is new cooling, hydrating face primer that launched with the NYX Spring 2016 Collection earlier last month. On some levels this formula reminds me of the NYX Skin Elixirs that launched in 2014 as they contain many of the same ingredients like chamomile, green tea, and ginseng root extract.
Although the textures and formulation are different they do seem to have many of the same ingredients.
None the less I have dry skin so this didn’t prevent me from wanting to try NYX Hydra Touch Primer for myself.
NYX Hydra Touch Primer comes housed in a 1.05 oz squeeze tube for $13.99 and is fitting in my opinion for most any skin type not just dry ones. If you have oily skin you’ll find this provides nice light moisture to skin where as if you’re drier or combo it’ll be a nice hydrating base for makeup to adhere to.
This is a cool, refreshing lightweight gel cream with a fresh cucumber-like fragrance. As soon as it touches skin it has a cooling effect which I thought was rather pleasant. It kinda “bursts” upon contact with skin and turns into a thinner, runnier consistency like water. It absorbs very, very quickly and easily and leaves skin lightly hydrated and softened for makeup. I wouldn’t say it provides intense moisture for drier skin types, you might need something a little richer if you have severe dry skin like me. I would say it’ll be a nice pick for oily skin as it lightly hydrates but doesn’t create unnecessary shine, greasiness, or oil.
They don’t market it as a primer that will conceal imperfections such as visible pores so don’t expect to act as such. However, they do market it to provide longer wearing makeup which I don’t find necessarily true. My foundation wore about the same either if I used it or didn’t so it didn’t extend the wear.
NYX Hydra Touch Primer is a nice lightweight Summer primer in my opinion or better still a good pick for oily skin. My skin is a touch too dry for this at the moment and I need a little more moisture that it provides. But come Summer when I need a lot less moisture this will be a nice pick to use as a canvas for my foundation and other makeup.
NYX Hydra Touch Primer is available now at Ulta, Ulta.com, Target, and Target.com.
