Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette3

The Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette ($14.99) is a new silicone pad which has tiny ridges embedded into it that allows you to swipe your makeup brushes across for a deep clean. Let it be known I love this thing with all my heart!

I hate cleaning my makeup brushes! I particularly hate trying to get cream products out of the bristles of some of my beloved brushes! This little palette makes cleaning so much easier and dare I say even kinda fun!

Ok, so your $15 bucks gets you the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette as well as two packets of the new Real Techniques Gel Brush Cleanser. I had a moment where I was like, “Damn I wish they included a small or even larger size of the Gel Brush Cleanser and charged me $20 bucks for the set!” but I’m cool with the small packets as there’s enough in here get at least two rounds of brushes cleaned up nicely plus I already have two full bottles of their gel cleanser because I’m obsessed with it.

This palette is made from silicone and it has tiny ridges in it which allows you to gentle stroke the bristles of your brush across it to break up makeup and get a deep clean. This is a little larger than my hand and it has a small hoop located in the back that allows me to slip my hand through it which in turn gives me a better grip on the palette. In my little video below I couldn’t slip my hand into it and record at the same time so I just laid it in the base of my sink and stroked my brush across it just to give you a little demo of how it worked.

I wet my brush prior and apply a little of the gel cleanser and just stroke the brush over the palette in a rapid back and fourth sweep. This totally eliminates the need to use your hands as you can easily swipe makeup, dirt, oil, and cream from the brushes using the sweeping motion on the palette. The only time you need to touch the brush is to squeeze excess water out and reshape the bristles.

I love the palette because I feel like it does a far better job than I do using my hands. Typically I tap brushes against my hand to work out makeup or if it’s a cream product I tend to beat the bristles against my hand. I need not do that anymore as this does a great job sweeping out the makeup easily. Needless to say it gets brushes cleaned very, very easily and deeply.

The Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette is a handy tool to have around and well worth picking up. I can’t rave this one enough!

If I didn’t already have the Sigma mitt I’d definitely get this item.

Anyone think this is better than the Sigma (reversible) mitt?

    • Dee

I have the smaller “express” mitt and I like this better. It’s easier to use, for me anyway.

  • Sonya J

Awesome! I got a really small sample size of the Sigma mitt a few years ago and I’ve been using that in the palm of my hand, since the actual one is too expensive. I’m glad another company has come out with an affordable version!

Thanks for this review, I love it & will be picking up one for my daughter, besides myself. Good review/pics on how it’s used. Nice too that you reminded us to use the Ulta coupon! I love your posts/blog & read all of it, even if I’m not interested in the product.

Great invention! Thanks for letting me know it exists…and thanks for the tip of the Ulta coupon which I have!

    This looks pretty cool!
If it helps anyone, here’s my tip:
I do a pre-clean on my foundation and “cream” brushes with a small amount of DHC Cleansing Oil. It really breaks the makeup down quickly and I follow up with a short wash with Beauty Blender Cleanser or a mild shampoo.

Make Up Revolution in the UK has just brought out a dupe of this! Quite tempted to try that one but I haven’t spotted it in the shops yet, just on the website. Will keep my eye out.

Oh cool! I didn’t see that! Now I want to try Make Up Revolution’s version 😀
