The Creamiest Eyeliners You Can Find at the Drugstore

creamiest eyeliner

Drugstore eyeliners have come a very long way in the last five years or so. I swear much of my drugstore eyeliner life has been spent in painful agony during application because the formula is so damn dry that it drags and skips across my lash line like a dull razor.

Not cool.

But I’ve seen so many improvements in drugstore eyeliners that I don’t feel the need to look to high end brands for my eyeliner fix because some of the creamiest eyeliners you can find are right at the drugstore.

Here’s some of my favorite picks!

Milani Liquid Eye Liquid Like Eyeliner Pencil $6.49
Pigmented and creamy this eyeliner applies like melted butter with a smooth, easy glide.

L’Oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner 24 Hour $9.99 (Review and Swatches)
Pencils not your thing? This super creamy and pigmented gel eyeliner comes in a pot!

Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil $7.99 (Review and Swatches)
Maybelline just recently launched this formula and it’s amazing! Super, duper creamy and quite pigmented!

L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eye Liner $8.99 (Review and Swatches)
L’Oreal introduced their Silkissime in a few standards shades originally but more recently they have a rainbow of gorgeous shades to choose from. The black shade is comparable to Urban Decay Perversion in terms of pigment and creamy texture!

What are some of your favorite creamy drugstore eyeliners?

Do sahre them!

Prestige total intensity are the bomb-diggity! And the Jordana easy liners are pretty fab too! Both are nice and creamy but not slick or greasy.

Never tried the Milani ones… Will have to give them a look!

Yes Prestige Total Intensity liner are amazing! I know I’ve commented about them before. They’re maybe $5 each & last longer on me than ANY UD liner!

  • Hannah

I swatched the black prestige eyeliner against the milani one, and the prestige one was blacker.

  • Lorraine

That loreal gel liner is my favorite!! I’m on my second pot of it. I love the brush too & I never liked the brushes that come with ds gel liners before.

I love the Milani Liquid Eye. When they changed the name from “Liquif’eye” to “Liquid Eye”, all the old ones showed up at Dollar Tree, and I bought *cough* a LOT.

What I love about them is that they’re soft, but not TOO soft. I’m of a certain age, so I really don’t want the huge thick line so many really soft eyeliners make. Same with the very dark black – they make me look like I’m on day four of a three day bender. A little softness goes a long way, in both texture and color!

Muse, agree these are wonderful liners. The gel one by L’oreal is the only on that stays a while in my water line. I like them over my UD an some of the Tart ones.

Another huge fan of Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliners! Very creamy, pigmented, gorgeous colors, and last 17 hrs on my oily lids. I have 4 colors. It’s so sad Ulta no longer carries the brand, as they had some really great stuff (comparable or better than brands that cost 2-6x more), but you can order direct from their website.

I’ve been trying to find a non-frosted light to medium taupe soft eyeliner. UD’s only taupes are frosted. I want a matte liner and am still on my quest. W&W has a good color but it’s not a soft pencil and it’s hard for me to apply it.
I don’t want black or regular brown – they are too dark and harsh looking on me.
    *sigh*

Oh my gosh! I am sorry I have no real contribution on any of the eyeliners you mentioned, but when I read the following: “I swear much of my drugstore eyeliner life has been spent in painful agony during application because the formula is so damn dry that it drags and skips across my lash line like a dull razor.” I began to laugh so hard because it was the same experience I had as a younger person and never touched eyeliner again until it came in an IT TSV I received and found out the days of the old dull razor blade had passed! I still can’t stop laughing! You made my day Isabella! ❤️

haha Nicole! Isn’t it true? Eyeliners five or ten years ago were DRYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! omg! Horrible! I avoided drugstore eyeliners for a really long time because they were awful! 😀 xoxo!

      • Nicole

I think I bought a Wet n’ Wild eyeliner because I was young (quite young) and it was cheap. I remember it wouldn’t go on my skin and it hurt, so I tried it on a piece of paper and it skipped on there. Never touched eyeliner again until that TSV. LOL 😀

        • Isabella Muse

LOL omg funny! “and it skipped on there..” I had a mental image of it skipping on paper and laughed so hard 😀

  • Sharon

Too funny!! I remember using a lighter to make the point of the Maybeline black pencil soft and hiding said lighter from my parents! Those were the days, I’m talking 25 years ago but Muse you probably aren’t even that old. I could sure tell you some old time make up trick stories. I’m still laughing at yours!

    • Isabella Muse

haha my sister did this Sharon! I totally remember her doing that as a child! Oh do share!

    • Katherine T.

Hahaha! Yes, I remember girls using lighters or matches to soften up DS eyeliners because they were dry and hard as a rock, absolutely horrible

  • Sharon Starr

Not only did I use that lighter to soften the liner but I recall one specific time that I heated it WAY too much and literally blustered my eye lid. Sometimes I would put cinnamon in some moisturizer to tint it because I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup until I was 16! The strict Italian/Polish family I came from. One of my favorites along with washing my hair with beer was smashing SweetTarts or using Jello powder for eye shadow. My sisters and I were very inventive back in the day. Must be why I’m so addicted to beauty products. Absolutely love reading all your reviews Muse and you are most definitely the queen.

lol damn sharon! Talking about DIY! I LOVE IT ;-D Awww shucks I’m blushing now thanks girl!
