About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. 5. Burts bees lip balm with spf

    3. Laqa & Co Cheeky pencil
    4. It Cosmetics Universal Brow Pencil
    5. Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer

Very simple, but versatile everyday favorites. But if I could take 6, I’d also bring a Lorac palette, probably Unzipped!

    • Rachel

Incidentally, this was the best topic ever! It is so good to see other people’s most indispensable HG products to get new ideas of stuff to try. Thanks to this I now have about 4 new must-try items. (What a drag, I’m going to have to make a trip to Ulta now!

  • Zovesta

    1. Neosporin Eczema Essentials Daily Moisturizing Cream (not really a beauty product, but if you saw my hands without it… yeah, a beauty product!)
    2. Sunscreen (I’ll take any kind!)
    3. Antiperspirant (same as above)
    4. Carmex lip balm
    5. Some sort of good face moisturizer

I could say mascara, foundation, and red lipstick, which is what I need to feel put together, but let’s be honest, without these five things, I’m practically a zombie myself. Can’t forget soap and toothpaste too.

  • NikkiNeverWithoutPolish

    Origins Night-a-mins Moisturizer
Lip balm (I’d probably pick something practical – moisturizing w/ SPF)
    Benefit Lash Primer
Benefit Real Cheeky Party Blush Palette
    Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

So I can be moisturized AND not look like a zombie while I fight off the undead! ^_^

  • Christina

Dr. Brandt pores no more pore refiner
    Mally face defender
    Lorac unzipped palette
    Bobbi brown smokey eye mascara
    Manna kadar lucky lip gloss/primer

Wet n wild comfort zone palette
    Milani eye primer
    Elf blush palette in light

  • Michelle

    Nars Creamy Concealer
    Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara
    Bare Minerals Matte Foundation
Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Blush palette
    Tarte Amazonian Clay setting powder

  • zVintage Fashionizta

I was going to say moisturizer and lip balm but then I thought about it if you’re running from zombies your skin will be naturally moisturized by its own oils and my hands will be dirty, why would I want to slather moisturizer on my soiled greasy face with dirty hands?
OK, so then I thought beauty products, why would I need to look presentable for a zombie apocalypse?
Are none of you fans of The Walking Dead?!?!
    My choices:
#1 – Eyewear (hundreds of contact lenses, eyeglasses & eyedrops).
    #2 – Gun w/silencer and ammunition
    #3 – Machine gun w/ammunition
#4 – a very sharp sword (preferred because it has a longer handle) or machete
#5 – grenades (preferred just in case I don’t have a lighter) or explosives. WHY? Because I refuse to be eaten so if I get cornered and I know I can’t get out I’m blowing us all up!

FYI: Don’t come knocking on my door because you are ill equipped for the apocalypse, I am NOT going trade my weapon with you for a high end moisturizer! 😉

    • blee

zVintage Fashionizta, I love your answer. But I still need some war paint to go with all that. 🙂

      • Robin

Amen! Carol and ‘Daryl are good for taking care of the zombies. I’m need my war Paint!

        • zVintage Fashionizta

Remember Ladies, its survival of the fittest so if you can’t hold your own, Adios!

      • zVintage Fashionizta

        OK,
        ●it cosmetics CC cream
●Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid sunscreen with SPF 70 (because my face does not tan, it burns and get permanently stained)
●tarte Park Avenue princess contouring face Perfector with brush set (so that I won’t be mistaken for a zombie)
        ●benefit they’re real mascara
●Inglot #60 AMC Lip Paint (to give me that kissable, youthful, lively look and it smells delicious!)

        • Robin

Yea! You do have a top five! Lol. I’m with you on the sunscreen. I resemble a lobster 10 minutes in the sun.

  • Christina

    1. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum
    2. Urban Decay Naked concealer
    3. Urban Decay Naked loose powder
    4. Guerlain Rouge G “Garçonne” lipstick
    5. Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm

  • Carolyn2

    Shiseido tinted sunscreen
    Fresh berry lipstick with SPF
    Lancôme defincils mascara
    Bioderma Micellar water
    Peter Thomas Roth SPF ( forgot name … It’s 3:00 AM! )

  • Ilene

    Gucci hydrating eyecream
    BB stick foundation
    BB pale pink pot rouge
    It cosmetics super hero mascara
Too faced chocolate bar palette or the Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette. Like picking a favorite child!

  • Kate S

    1. Smith’s Strawberry Lip Balm Tin
    2. Murad Oil-Control Mattifier
    3. Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner
    4. Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara (Waterproof, of course)
    5. e.l.f. Translucent Mattifying Powder

I wish I had room for a dual lip/cheek color, but my oily skin demands two of my five products.

  • Sammy

    1.) Pixi Beauty Correction Concentrate
2.) Tarte LipSurgence Lip Creme Pencil
    3.) Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
    4.) Olive Oil
    5.) Rosehip Seed Oil

  • Gisela

    1. Etude House Face Conditioning Cream (I have super dry skin that dries up so fast without this underneath my makeup.)
    2. Etude house BB cream – Cover & Bright Fit (SPF yay!)
    3. Clarins Instant Light Brush On Perfector (I don’t want my undereye circles to make me mistaken for a zombie ok)
    4. Canmake Gokubuto Mascara in black (Rain proof but easy to remove, yay!)
    5. SLEEK Candy Tint Balm in shade Tutti Fruity, 071

But honestly it would be most important to bring the conditioning cream and my Moistfull Aloe Soothing Gel (Etude House). That stuff is awesome and can be used all over the face. No amount of makeup can save those dry patches from forming without any good skincare lol

  • Brittany

Nars All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation
    Benefit Benetint
    Clinique Moisture Surge
    Mac Strobe Cream
    Tarte Gifted mascara

    That was hard!

    • Brittany

Oh no! I forgot my brows. Definitely Urban Decay Brow Beater instead of the Strobe Cream.

  • Dora

    1) Benefit Rollerlash (so I don’t have to waste one pick on an eyelash curler — doesn’t work perfectly for me, but zombies won’t notice so much)
    2) Dr. Jart Premium BB
    3) Bare Minerals Serum Concealer
    4) The Balm Balm Desert Bronzer (this one is better when I have a bit of a tan, but I’m picturing the zombie landscape as hot and dry, for some reason. crap — do brushes count? dammit.)
    5) IT Cosmetics Je Na Sais Quoi lipstick

      • Dora

OK — I definitely thought so when I picked Rollerlash, but was hoping I could squeak by. : )
In that case, I’ll swap Chanel Jersey blush for Balm Desert, since it comes with a brush! I think I will also swap my concealer (horror!) and just use my BB under my eyes so I can have a brow product. I’ll take Gimme Brow. So tempted to take my Anastasia Brow Wiz, but then I’ll want a gel, too. Sheesh, this is hard! But fun! And now feel super prepared for when the zombies do come, so thanks!

        • Isabella Muse

the zombies came already Dora, last night, you’re too late! haha 🙂 kidding 🙂

  • Bya

    What fun!!
1.) Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil Light
2.) Philosophy Kiss Me Tonight Lip Treatment
    3.) Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer
4.) Mally Volumizing Mascara (white tube)
5.) Ready to Wear Couture Finish Powder

  • Ashley

    1) Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream
    2) Clinque moisture surge CC Cream-Very Light
    3) Sisley Paris Precious Black Rose Oil
    4) La Mer Lip Balm
    5) La Mer Eye Concentrate

  • StrangeOne

    Missha perfect cover BB cream.
    GA Orange corrector
    Bodyshop Lip/cheek tint
    Kat Von D tattoo liner
Jack Black Chapstick thingy (totally blanking on the name)

  • Marti

I totally agree with Robin and Rachel – so hard to decide and I love this topic! I’m looking forward to trying a few of the products other people mentioned!

    1. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
    2. Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder
    3. EcoTools Retractable Kabuki Brush
    4. Eyelash Curler (any – just ordered my first Shu Uemura though, so the ‘any’ part might change if I love it as much as the hype indicates I will)
    5. Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Waterproof in Very Black

    • Marti

I suppose I actually need my Tweezerman Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover more than the finishing powder. Then without the powder I don’t really need the brush… I’d probably sub Buxom’s Full-On Lipstick in Amsterdam for the brush.

      Dang! That was so hard!!

  • Rachel R.

LOL Love this question! 🙂 Even I wouldn’t be grabbing makeup during a zombie apocalypse. I’ll play along though. Because it says “makeup products,” I’m not including tools, sunscreen, skincare, or toiletries. I keep a small travel makeup brush set in my purse, anyway. The rest I’ll scavenge from abandoned stores and houses as I go along.

    1. BareMinerals Orginal SPF 15 Foundation in Fair. It always works for me no matter what my skin is doing, and it doesn’t need a primer.
    2. BareMinerals Mineral Veil in Translucent. My skin with get very oily and sweaty with all that fighting and running.
    3. Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Mascara. I need a waterproof formula because I’ll be outdoors a lot as I flee the zombie hoards. Oregon is wet.
    4. My Japonesque palette that houses most of my MAC lipsticks. I can use them as cream blushes, also. They’ll protect my lips from sunburn as well.
    5. This may be cheating, but I have to have these two together. My oily lids must have primer, or bringing eyeshadow is (more) pointless. Too Faced Shadow Insurance and my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. Naked Basics has sturdy packaging and is small and lightweight for travel. It has a mirror. I can do several different eye looks with it. I can contour my face with Naked2, highlight with Venus, and fill in my brows with Faint.

After all, a zompocalypse is no excuse for not having my full face done. 😉

  • Ruth

    5. Gwen Stefani blush pallet- it has everything!
    4. Foundation with SPF
    3. lip exfoliater -cannot be on the run with scaly lips!
    2. original Naked pallet. amazing shadows with a color that matches my brows
    1. black gel eyeliner which can double for mascara

  • Janessa

    Ohhh good one Muse!

Hmm this is hard… I’m going with Rachel – this says makeup products, so I’m assuming my cleanser, moisturizer with SPF, deodorant, soap, and wetwipes have already been packed 😉

    1. Hope in a Tube eye cream
    2. It Cosmetics CC+ for the extra SPF
    3. Nars Laguna X Orgasm duo (Gotta multi task and I happen to be wearing both today and Laguna as a eye shadow alone since I’m feeling poopy today. I could mix Orgasm with #4 to make a lip colour in a pinch, too) and hello OG HG.
    4. Vaseline (best mult-tasking beauty product out there and SOOO underrated)
    5. Benefit Gimme Brow (I can go without mascara, but I’ll sacrifice myself to the zombies if I’m faced with running around with bad or sparse brows. And I’m sitting here convincing myself that since I use the dark Gimme Brow on minimal days, I could probably make it work as a touch of mascara, too).

Now I’m racking my brain, taking mental inventory of my collection, really picturing this situation and stressing out over how much money I will have lost if everything but those 5 items were left behind or destroyed.

    • Janessa

I am also assuming my toothpaste and q-tips are packed with the other toiletries! haha!

      And dry shampoo…

OK – I’ve been eaten by zombies because I’m totally impractical and would totally be the broad left behind clutching my bronzer and favorite pair of suede ankle boots.

  • Elena

    1. It Cosmetics CC Cream
    2. Bare Minerals Faux Tan
    3. Tarte Off the Cuff Blush Palette
    4. Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
    5. Jack Black SPF 25 Lip Balm (can mix some of the blush with Jack Black to make a lipcolor)

    Wee! That was fun.

  • Elaine

Muse, you make me laugh today! Zombies+makeup, now there’s something I had not put together. Do they like gals with big eyes and groomed brows? Soft, eatable lips? I think I would just RUNNNNN! My brain is more precious than concealer if it comes to that!! Thanks for the question??!! EG

    • Isabella Muse

Elaine, they love chubby little short girls like me from my understanding that wear lots of flavored lipgloss lol! 😀

      • zVintage Fashionizta

And that’s exactly why I need my weapons and not beauty products; have you noticed that there are no chubby zombies, why? because they get eaten first!

  • Claire L

Haha, I love silly scenarios like this ! OK so here we go:
    1. Bareminerals Complexion Rescue in 01 Opal
    2. Max Factor waterproof Masterpiece mascara
    3. Gwen Stefani cheek palette
    4. UD Urban Spectrum eye palette
    5. UD Gwen Stefani Firebird lipstick

I went by the premise that I’d grab my absolute favourites, as there’d be no guarantee I could find these in other houses, if I had to leave because of an impeding zombie apocalypse lol!

  • genevieve

    This IS hard:
    1. QVC cleanser
    2. Cetaphil Moisture Cream
    3. Rimmel Perfect Match Foundation
    4. Milani Colour Statement Lipstick in Candied Toffee
    5. Naked 2 palette.

  • Linda

So my Dr Jart ceramidin duo is already packed, and all I need is makeup products, right?
    1. Stila liquid eyeliner pen in black
    2. Smash box studio skin foundation
    3. My favorite MAC lipstick, berry colored. I forget the name. it can be used as a cream blush too.
    4. Tarte matte eyeshadow palette
    5. iT cosmetics mascara

  • Clarissa Z.

I’ve spent about 10 minutes or so thinking about which products I would bring; since brushes count, I’d just have to do without a lip balm

    1. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser (Despite the apocalypse, I still want to take care of my skin)
    2. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (I’m nearly paper-white, so SPF is a must)
    3. BareMinerals Blemish Remedy Foundation (My skin is oily, powder foundation is more matte and easy to wash off after an exhausting day of zombie slaying)
    4. Tarte Amazonian Clay Volumizing Brow Powder (Gotta keep my brows looking great so I can still look bitchy and fierce)
    5. EcoTools Mini Essentials Make Up Brush Set (These three brushes are small and easy to travel with, I’d just need the powder brush and the angled brush)

  • Jan M

    Let’s see 🙂

    1. Philosopy Hope In A Jar
    2. Buxom Lip Gloss- I can burn their eyes with the tingliness from the lip plumper
    3. It Cosmetics CC Cream – because of Spf
    4. Lorac Pro Pallette- I can use it as bronzer/ eye brows/ contour blush/ shadow and liner
    5. Tarte lights camera lashes

  • danadoo

This is a great topic! #1 benefit boiing, #2 elf eyebrow palette, #3 Lorac pro palette #4 clinique color pop blush in “heather pop” #5 clinique chubby stick intense in “roomiest rose”. This post made me think about what products are truly indespensible to me…i’m on my FOURTH roomiest rose chubby stick, and i just bought my third heather pop blush!

  • DW

Lash curler, waterproof concealer, waterproof mascara, waterproof felt tip eyeliner pen, tweezers.
