Bare Minerals The Nature of Nudes Ready Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
The Bare Minerals The Nature of Nudes Ready Eyeshadow Palette is the first ever Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow 14.0! Yup, that’s right 14 shades of Bare Minerals Ready Eyesahdow in one palette. Are you excited? I know I was when I saw the Bare Minerals the Nature of Nudes Eyeshadow Palette pop up on Ulta.com recently. I didn’t have to think about this purchase! I popped it into my cart and away I went.
Here’s my review on this palette!
The Bare Minerals The Nature of Nudes Ready Eyeshadow Palette ($42) comes in a long slim line cardboard compact and features 14 Ready Eyeshadow shades (0.04 oz each) in:
- Whipped (pale lemon)
- Opulence (shimmering cream)
- Lost for Words (neutral beige)
- Truffle (glistening chestnut)
- East (sable)
- Guest Star (sunset bronze)
- Fate (light mocha glaze)
- Chance (pink cream)
- Libation (sugared cinnamon)
- Tranquil (soft stone)
- Exquisite (soft brown)Priceless (heathered smoke)
- Sonnet (matte clay)
- Black Tie Optional (black velvet)
What surprises me most about this palette is the size. This contains 0.48 of eyeshadow total for $42 versus Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 Palettes which hold 0.24 to 0.28 oz of eyeshadow for $40! For $2 extra bucks you score a ton more eyeshadow. Pretty wild but also worrisome. I was a bit worried that going bigger might impact the formula. I can’t lie and say I haven’t been disappointed by larger palettes in the past by some of my favorite brands. It just seems quality suffers when you’re getting more for less.
Not the case with the Bare Minerals The Nature of Nudes Ready Eyeshadow Palette. Bare Minerals went larger and cheaper but still maintained the same formula we know and love from the Ready Eyeshadow Collection. So, you are not forsaking quality here in the least. If anything at all you’re actually getting more bang for your buck!
The palette is confusing those as it felt more like a cross between nuder and smokier shades as there are a good deal of taupes here, browns, plus smokier grays and blacks with lighter highlighting shades such as tans and creams. But chalk it up as getting the best of the smoky and the nude eyeshadow world! I did an article earlier in the month on Alanna Masterson’s eye look on the Talking Dead and there is in fact a shade here called Priceless that I might be able to use to replicate her sheer, color washed smokier eye look. This is a pretty matte gray that will create a really nice, subtle smoky look.
For me, this took the nude out of nude eyeshadow palettes. We’ve seen so many different nude palette launches lately that this was a refreshing change from the normal round up of golden browns, golds, and lighter shades of brown that most “nude” palettes contain!
You get a range of finishes here including frosts, mattes, and satins although I will say mattes tend to dominate in this palette. I wasn’t a fan of the one frost, Libation, but that’s only because I do not like frost eyeshadows. Aside from this shades all 13 of the other colors were perfect. The mattes are soft, silky, and easy to apply without looking patchy or dry. And the satins are soft, velvety, and almost creamy-like in consistency.
Just a note, Priceless and Sonnet swatched way darker due to the fact that I didn’t wait for my arm to dry after wiping my first round of swatches off with a cleansing wipe. They look smokier, grayer, and blacker than they actually are. Sorry about the misrepresentation.
I do have one minor rant. Bare Minerals typically includes a fold out diagram for creating a few looks using their Ready Eyeshadow Palettes. This palette actually has a stick on film which is stuck on the mirror inside the palette that contains a “get the look” guide by number to create three looks. On one hand the fact it is stuck on the palette means I’ll never lose it but on the other I dislike the way it is stuck on the mirror. I’m a little meh about the lack of the little handy guide and I’d prefer the booklet they normally include versus this film.
I also think the palette could be potentially misleading as these aren’t your typical nude round up. This is actually a more grown up nude palette! No golds here but there are some amazing taupes, some incredible tans, and some really great smokier greys. It’s a palette you’re going to reach for daily if you work in an office enviroment.
Bare Minerals The Nature of Nudes Ready Eyeshadow Palette is a gorgeous round up of eyeshadows with an excellent formula. Going big did not forsake the incredibly Ready Eyeshadow formula we all love and know. Bare Minerals packed in a gorgeous assortment of eyeshadows into this palette with an excellent formula at a great price.
I’m wearing Priceless in my crease, Guest Star on my lid, and Chance to highlight in my above photo.
Loves it!
