Flower HydraSilk Ultimate Lip Butter ($7.98) are a new lip butter that promising a conditioning, hydrating formula with an intense color and a glossy finish! They sound pretty promising don’t they?
Here’s the deets!
Flower HydraSilk Ultimate Lip Butter comes housed in a new black packaging with Flower’s rose gold emblem decorating the clear top. Flower’s original, permanent line is white with rose gold accents but the Spring 2016 Collection is all about more modern, elegant black packaging.
I purchased two of the six shades and I had different results with the two shades. I feel like I’m saying this often lately with products but I do believe these fall victim to overmarketing. “Intense color”, “conditioning”, “hydrating”, these are things that grabbed my attention but I don’t think the product provides all of these benefits.
Naked Petal was very disappointing! It’s dragged a good deal during application and reminded me of the Palladio Butter Me Up Sheer Color Balms I recently reviewed. It just wasn’t a pleasant application for me. The color was decent enough once in place but it is sheerer not necessarily “intense”. It does have of shine but nothing dramatic.
I had a very different experience with Rose Petal. This was a softer buttery texture with nice color and a higher shine finish. Although, I did experience a little bit of grittiness during the application but thankfully not the dry drag of Naked Petal.
These are cute with tons of potential but the formula wasn’t exactly great for me. When you say lip butter I instantly think of something soft and buttery and these just didn’t quite have as soft and buttery a texture as I was hoping for. Ironically, I think they look great on my lips!
