I decided to check out Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick ($5) since I really enjoyed the Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick I recently reviewed. The Iconic Pro formula is available in seven shade selections (in the UK they are available in 20) and are apparently the “most desired lipstick shades” with “super intense coverage that are comfortable to wear”.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick comes housed in a lighter lacquered black bullet shaped barrel much like we’ve seen from MAC but with rose gold accents. For $5 bucks the presensation is very pretty as is the pigmentation but I didn’t like the formula nearly as much as I enjoyed the Rose Gold Lipsticks.

These pack pigment that’s for sure. I got Duel Matte which is a warm and strong red. This provides full coverage on a single application and only gets brighter and bolder which each layer applied. It’s a great shade but I disliked the formula.

Sadly, this dragged horribly during application and wasn’t particularly kind to my drier lips. It’s quite drying once on my lips but ironically it has a very smooth finish that doesn’t migrate of feather plus it wears for a solid six hours. If you can take the crappy application the wear and the finish are actually quite nice. It’s just that the application is borderline painful as the drag is just awful. It goes on smooth and creamy with a little Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Lipsaver Treatment Primer so that’s one solution or you might want to apply a bit of lip balm prior to ease the way. Although, you shouldn’t have to doctor things up to have a creamy application you know?

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick is a nice budget pick but the formula isn’t quite right. A bit too dry and terribly application makes this one a sad miss! What’s even more disappointing is the fact it has such excellent pigmentation and wear.

Sadness!

It’s a great colour and looks lovely on you, but I totally understand what you mean. I don’t really like matte lipsticks myself for that reason – too drying on my lips.
Thank you for the honest review on these lipsticks because I was going to get some. I will have a look at the Rose Gold one again.
