It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Palette

The It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette ($28) is a new Spring 2016 eyeshadow palette that contains six shades of It Cosmetics Matte Eyeshadow. If you already own and love the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Must-Have Eye Set you likely felt this was a very similar palette as they do look very much the same. However, the Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette doesn’t contain any of the shades that appear in that set.

It Cosmetics has three larger palettes that have launch which include 15 shades each and one smaller seven shade palette that launched, actually two now if you count this new palette. Across all those palettes you’ll find variations of the shades included in the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette so unless you’re looking for a travel-friendly palette you might not necessarily need this palette as an It Girl. However, if you aren’t yet a fan of It Cosmetics or if you’re just starting to get into matte eyeshadows, this is a nice way to introduce yourself to both. Especially since It Cosmetics does some very, very good mattes with soft, silky consistencies that are very easy to apply, blend, and wear.

As I said above think of the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette as a little travel sized version of the larger It Palettes. This holds six matte eyeshadows and one Transforming Hello Light shade that softens the shades of the palette and gives them a satiny finish.

As I said, this palette contains variations of shades already included in past palettes. This is particularly the case with the lighter colors which are very easy to dupe across all of It Cosmetics past palettes if you have them. Lighter shades do dominate this palette which I thought hindered the palette slightly. I’m a girl that likes stronger shades as lighter creams and beiges tend to drown my look at. This isn’t to say they are great shades for highlighting especially around the highbrow. However, I don’t need nor want an entire palette filled with creamier shades of white and beige and this palette does lean on those shades heavily. There is nice silky brown here as well as a navy blue, but they don’t make up for the fact that the palette contains so many sheerer shades. On that note, I will say cooler skin tones might find this palette an ideal pick. The Transforming Hello Light shade can be used to lighten colors and to give them more of a satiny finish versus a matte. I’ve always used the Transforming shade in past palettes as a way to soften darker colors but in this case, it doesn’t necessarily work since many of the colors are already light.

The consistency of the shades is, as always, a pleasure to use. It Cosmetics excels at creating soft, silky mattes that are easy to apply and blend. They are probably one of my favorite matte shadow formulas.

One thing to take note is over the Holidays the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Must-Have Eye Set was $28 and also included a Hello Lashes Mascara. I’m sad to say the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette is also $28 but does not include the deluxe size mascara.

It Girls and Guys might not necessarily need the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette in my opinion. It’s a lot of repeat shades, and also, the variety of shades sorely lacking here. However, those who haven’t tried It Cosmetics this would be a nice introduction or those with a cooler skin tone might enjoy this palette.

The It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette are available now at Ulta.com.

Hmmmm. This does seem like a nice neutral palette for someone fair & cool (like me!), but I see what you mean about too many light colors! It almost seems pointless to have the “transforming ” shade when only 2 colors are dark enough to use with it! But your overall look is lovely! Might be worth picking up if I catch a good sale!

I agree! Seems weird to have a light transforming shade when the palette is dominated by light eyeshadows. I understand they want the transforming shade to be more about going from matte to satin but I think the texture is already a satiny matte consistency so no need for the transformer. Weird. I love It Cosmetics but this one is more of a highlighting palette for my skin tone 🙁

Thank you! I’m so glad you swatched this. I feel like this would be a good palette for those of us who are fairest of the fair. The Hello Light makes those darker shades a little more wearable for me.

(And, of course, my brain is singing “Transformers! More than meets the eye!!” )

Oh, very pretty, but I like the 2015 one a tad better. The dark blue eye color is not one I would use much. Thanks for the swatches and the review, Musey. 🙂

me either blee! The other shades yes but matte blue just isn’t my shade! You’re welcome dear!

  • Yen

I’m glad you swatches this! I was going to make an impulse buy since I like their shadows. But I’m with you in preferring stronger shades. Sometimes there are palettes released with so many light creamy shades. I just dont have a use for all of them.

P.s. I love when you swatch/wear light shadows in your reviews. Those big doll eyes of yours look so bright ^_^ I try to do that on my Asian eyes and just look like a ghost haha.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Yen! thank you very much 🙂 Likewise. I need a few darker shades to make things work! Something filled with lights like this is more of a highlighter palette for me, I’ll use to highlight my highbrow but likely wouldn’t use the lighter shades all over my eyes as they end up looking chalky on my skin tone 🙁

Thanks for your swatches,Muse. I thought I might want this palette.I saw it in my new Ulta ad this week advertised as “New and Only at Ulta”. I couldn’t find any recent reviews. The colors don’t excited me much, although I do like and use some of It Cosmetics products.

I bought it at Sephora, and then I searched for information about it to learn more on how to use the ‘Hello Light’ shade.

May I know HOW exactly do I ‘blend’ it with the other colours? Do I wear another colour first, and then add a layer of Hello Light on top? Or do I get some Hello Light with the same brush and then get the colour I want to put on my eyelid together in my brush? Is it possible to use the ‘Hello Light’ with eyeshadows of other brands?

This is my first It cosmetics, so I hope you can answer my questions. Thanks!

    • Isabella Muse

You can use it before or after eye shadow application. It lightens up the shades and adds a bit of a sheen to them. You can use with other eyeshadows as well should you like. Hope this helps!
