MUA Makeup Academy Nude Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

MUA Makeup Academy Nude Palette

I picked up MUA Makeup Academy Nude Eyeshadow Palette earlier this week at CVS since all MUA is on sale 20% Off. I have to say I haven’t really been exploring MUA since it launched here in the US at CVS because the range is a lot less larger in the UK versus what we have here in the US. And the prices are a lot higher!

I didn’t even know about the MUA Makeup Academy Eyeshadow Palettes that were available at CVS until just recently since I never bother looking at the display when I’m at CVS. Bad makeup addict am I right?

The MUA Makeup Academy Nude Eyeshadow Palette would be a lovely palette if it was cheaper. Even on sale at $12 this is still too high a price to pay for an eyeshadow palette like this. The palette is worth, perhaps $7.99 at best.

On that note, I will say it’s packed with some lovely shades that have a very soft, easy to blend formula.

The palette comes housed in a plastic compact much like the Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette with a small soft bristled brush inside that isn’t much use since it is a bit too tiny. This contains ten shades of shadow where as Maybelline’s newer, larger palettes contain 12 and are cheaper at around $9.99 to $12.99 depending where you purchase them. The cheaper price is irrelevant though because Maybelline’s formula isn’t terribly good so you might be willing to spend more on the MUA Palette which has a better formula.

If you like softer, buttery eyeshadows you’ll enjoy this palette. The palette has a selection of both matte and satin shades. I thought the satin were best as the mattes were a little bit sheerer and difficult to blend without looking patchy. The satins had better pigmentation and blended a lot easier. The shades due tend to go muddy during the blending process so I found two maybe three shades worked best in a look. If I attempted to use more the blending did go a little awry.

I liked the formula a lot. The shadows are nice and buttery with a very, very soft texture! But I still have conflicting feelings about paying $15 for this eyeshadow palette as I feel like I can use that money towards something mid-range. Drugstore makeup prices continue to rise higher and higher unfortunately.

If you can get it on sale the MUA Makeup Academy Nude Eyeshadow Palette would be a nice addition to your eyeshadow wardrobe if you like softer, sheerer eyeshadows that are easy to blend but not necessarily great for creating intricate look!

The MUA Makeup Academy Nude Eyeshadow Palette is available at CVS and CVS.com.

I purchased this item.

It does look pretty on you though, Muse!

I have had this exact palette in my hands at CVS but for that price for drugstore makeup it would have to be phenomenal.

After months of this not being at my local CVS because it sold out so quick, I FINALLY got it! I didn’t care about the 14.50 price I had to have it. I wasn’t impressed with the other 2 color palettes, I may get the smokey palette at a later date but I wanted THIS one. AND it was worth it! I just love this little palette, when I don’t feel like putting on a lot of makeup on my skin due to the heat and I usually give the eyeliners a break etc. etc. The colors look bare in the palette, but with a good primer they are amazing! They are pretty long lasting blend nicely, and I was not expecting them to be. It’s so easy to create a soft smokey eye look with this gem. I have worn this everyday since I bought it. Love it, totally impressed (which is saying a lot, if I don’t like it right away into the TRASH it goes).
Thanks for letting me comment. 😉

Just a heads up…I caved and purchased the Smokey last week. This time using CVS bucks so it came out to $10. So worth it, I was hesitant at first because of the colors, especially that gray color for the crease?? (insert crooked face here) I was elated when that silver turned out to be a slight silver with taupe so it looks great in that area. The other colors that look “harsh” (which is why I was hesitant, can’t stand those colors) did not apply that way at all, very soft and it blends I would say better than the Nude one. Glad I caved! May have to get the Metallics next haha.. Hope you had a good vacation!

Ok, I caved and I purchased the Smokey one as well (this time with a CVS coupon and it came out to 10 $$) I’m loving that one too, the colors are not as bold as they look in the pan, gorgeous colors for the smokey eye. I was a bit hesitant to use the “silver” looking one in the crease (which is really the only option they give you for that area), wow was I wrong, it’s more of a light silver taupe and it’s perfect for the crease. darker colors on the “v” and viola! a gorgeous smokey eye! You should try that one out as well, you won’t regret it. Although a quick warning, they do have 2 colors in this pan that are in the nude one, but I guess they are there for a reason right? Ha Ha.
Have some great time off days! and thanks for letting me comment.
