Wet n Wild Metallic Liquid Lipstick Review & Swatches
Wet n Wild Metallic Liquid Lipstick ($2.99) is a new lipstick that launched with the Wet n Wild Lost in the Wild Flowers Summer 2016 Collection. This is available in six shade selections and I’m unsure if Wet n Wild is keeping it on permanently or if it will be available for a limited time only.
I actually hate metallic lipsticks and metallic eyeshadows. I like them in theory! I just don’t like how they look on me. Occasionally, I do run across a metallic finish I like but it is very rare as most times metallic translates as frost to me or way too much shimmer. And metallic lipstick or gloss? Well, typically that makes me feel like I look like a robot. I wear it and suddenly I’m moping around like Marvin.
Unfortunately, Wet n Wild Metallic Liquid Lipstick is too much for this girl but if you have a tan or you’re a darker skin tone you might just be able to rock it. I picked up the shade My Tulips Are Sealed and I actually recommend this one because the shade is gorgeous! It’s a stunning replicate of NARS Orgasm and the perfect golden peach! I didn’t really like the metallic finish but if you add a little clear gloss you can sheer some of that finish away so you aren’t walking around with a robotic finish on your lips. Or you might just be ok and comfortable with metallics! In that case, no clear gloss required!
This formula is fairly thick but it applies easily but will drag and look a bit patchy on drier lips so prep well prior to application. I was able to get a super smooth finish when I applied Tarte Lip Saver Treatment Primer first. The lipstick is fairly heavy on lips but it wears comfortably enough without migrating or feather. I get about five hour of wear time but they the formula gets a little drier by hour three. The formula is more of a thicker gloss versus a lipstick but does have the pigment of one with a high, metallic finish. I detected no fragrance or flavor in the formula.
I look a bit silly in this finish without clear gloss as I stated above. It’s very workable with clear gloss though so if you’re as scared as metallic as I am you can indulge and just top with clear gloss to get a nicer finish!
All in all Wet n Wild Metallic Liquid Lipstick has a very nice consistency with excellent pigment with a good, solid wear. If you aren’t a fond fan of metallics you can still make these work but they do have a very hard metallic finish so be aware prior to purchase.
