Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment

I really do wish Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment understood my eye issues. Clinique introduced Smart Custom”Repair Serum in 2014 and apparently it was a customized solution that would target areas in and around your face that needed addressing. Dark spots? Clinique’s smart serum would know what to do with those! Moisture? No problem! The smart formula would target those dry areas and hydrate them for you!

I think the idea of Clinique Smart Custom”Repair Serum sounds brilliant in theory but I’m not sure how “smart” it is.

Now Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment uses the same technology as the serum! Apparently it targets and repairs “as needed, where needed”. One formula that will brighten, firm, plump, and repair the appearance of finer lines and crow’s feet!

Sounds great right?

The thing about Clinique eye cream and their skincare in general is you need a lot of time and patience with it. You see, I’m not that person. I’m impatient! I want it now! I like products, like Lancome Bienfait Multi Vital Daily Replenishing Oil where I see visible results right away. But if we’re realistic most skincare, no matter the cost, high or low, doesn’t produce visible results right away.

The best advice I ever received from a Clinique sales representative was, “Use it everyday and be patient!” She was right because with time and patient I get some really great results from one of my favorite eye creams from Clinique, Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream.

I mention this because I gave Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment a real fighting try but…

It failed me.

I’m pretty sad about this as I was hoping this formula would be as great as my beloved Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream!

It’s weird because this formula has a ton of excellent antioxidants as well as peptides. These ingredients should help repair the signs of aging and blur the appearance of finer lines. This comes housed in a pump jar which keeps all those good ingredients staple and happy.

Now the texture is a lightweight lotion or if you will it’s a serum of sorts. For testing purposes I used it and it only under my eyes but I will say I felt the need to follow up with another eye cream after using it because it is very, very, very lightly hydrating. I need a lot more moisture than this provides unfortunately. I used the bottle I purchased completely in 6 month period using it day and night. Sadly, during out relationship I didn’t notice many changes. Well, let me rephrase that, I didn’t see any changes at all.

I rely on eye cream to depuff (unfortunately, about 99% don’t), waken up, and hydrate my dry, puffy eyes as well as possibly treat finer lines (which, again, unfortunately so few do!).

This is an excellently formulated eye cream but for some reason it failed to work for me! I think it particularly failed in the moisture department as this is way too lightweight for those of us with terribly drier eyes!

Le sigh!

Unfortunately, Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Eye Treatment wasn’t terribly smart about pinpointing my under eye issues but who knows maybe it’ll work for you!

Available now at Sephora.com.

It did nothing for me either. I used the whole thing and no change. I think I may have to purchase the Repairwear laser focus one; I tried the sample of that and liked it.

Oh good I thought I was nuts lol! I saw no change at all! I was so disappointed :-/

I think the number one thing that we all need in the undereye area is good moisture. No matter how much peptides an eye cream contains if it doesn’t moisturize well your skin will still look crepe-y and full of lines because of dehydration. It took me a long time to understand that, I tried all the eye gels you can imagine and they all made my undereyes look worse, despite the great ingredients they contained!
Do you have any recommendation for super moisturizing eye creams? My undereye area has been unusually dry for the past few months and I can’t find something that moisturizes enough (Kiehl’s Avocado cream has been the best so far).

Hey Muse, I used to work for Clinique (I left about 5 months ago) and I’ve been using this since last June because we got a free bottle as consultants. I literally just thought to myself last week, ” This has done nothing that I can notice!” So I agree with you. Also, Repairwear for Eyes was always my favorite. It is hydrating and helps with wrinkles. So yeah, you’re not the only one who thinks this does nothing! I’m just glad I got my bottle for free!

    • Isabella Muse

ha glad I’m not alone. This and pep start are crushingly disappointed. Weird because it has such great ingredients but literally does nothing for me 🙁 Likewise! I could swear with daily use Repairwear has blurred the appearance of my finger lines!

Have not tried this, but maybe it would it work better mixed in with Repairwear ? That is mostly how I use another eye serum, Ren’s Keep Young And Beautiful Instant Brightening Beauty Shot. Difference is that I can see what the Ren addition does.

    • Isabella Muse

Yeah, you can def do that but you likely won’t see better results. I figure if it isn’t working by itself how can another formula help anything?! Aside from the other formula being perhaps better and therefore treating the problems that Smart Custom Repair did not. Repairwear works great all its own so I don’t really feel the need to mix it with this….also, repairwear already works well so no point in spending another $49 on Smart Custom Repair Eye which isn’t doing much. Seems pointless using one product that doesn’t work under one that does.

Serums are supposed to be layered under a moisturizer unless you have oily skin. They are meant deliver a more concentrated amount of beneficial ingredients such as peptides and antioxidants that can help skin and not meant to be used as a stand alone moisturizer. Just like a vitamin pill gives you beneficial nutrients and is helpful booster for dietary needs, but can’t deliver 100% of the things you need like food can.

Yup I know just don’t see the point of using this one if it isn’t doing much! So, might as well just skip the extra step and $$.
