Lancome Juicy Shaker

Move over Juicy Tubes and make way for the new Lancome Juicy Shaker ($21)! Lancome Juicy Shakers are a new lip oil with a glossy finish that’s available in a whooping 20 shades and flavors.

Lancome formulated these with peach kernel oil as well as sweet almond, apricot, cranberry and muscat rose oil to sooth, soften, and moisturize lips! They also come in the cutest packaging ever! Martini anyone? Each lip oil comes housed in a martini shaker barrel and has a bi-phase formula that you shake to mix before applying to lips! It’s like your own personal lip cocktail!

Lancome Juicy Shakers

Ok, so I happen to be a rather fond fan of Lancome Juicy Tubes and with the introduction of Lancome Juicy Shakers I admit I was excited. A new, sheer moisturizing lipgloss from Lancome? I was on that!

I think what really sets Juicy Shakers apart from any other lip product on the market right now is the very, very interesting applicator. Each oil has a super soft, flexible pointed applicator. I can’t stress how soft this applicator is. It’s a very squishy little cushion applicator that feels divine on my dry lips. Cushions are all the rage at the moment but even with Japan and Korea I haven’t seen a cushion this soft and squishy. I did notice you have to shake pretty hard to get the oil to flow into the cushion. There are three tiny holes where the oil flows from and in some cases it seemed to not want to flow. I had a little bit of a problem with the shade Show Me the Honey in this case. I had to really shake it hard to get the product flowing. The other two shades were thankfully fine.

This is a bi-phase formula with a lip oil base created with a blend of five oils and the second phase is the pigment which when shaken creates a soft, sheer, titned lip oil for application. I won’t deny these feel pretty lovely on lips. The makeup world is lacking in lip oil and Lancome successfully brings it in their Juicy Shaker formula. These are soothing, softening, and feel quite luxurious on lips. Unfortunately, that’s during the initial application because that moist, hydrating feel disappears rather quickly. But in that time I will say the formula does soften lips quite nicely so if you’re prone to drier lips you’ll love how these feel on lips! I just wish the feeling was long wearing. It’s sadly not only the moisture that disappears quickly but also the entire formula. I’m lucky if I get an hour out of these before I need to reapply. But at least through that wear they feel mighty nice.

Both the color I purchased and the press samples I received all had fairly sheer color pay off. Out of the three, Berry in Love had the most pigment with Piece of Cake following next and Show Me the Honey the least pigment of the three. The color fades rather quickly after application. Show Me the Honey and Piece of Cake did look about the same on my lips once on. So I got a nice shine from those but the colors looked similar on my lips!

I find the formula goes through three finishes after the application. The first you get a nice hint of color along with a shiny finish, the second phase you’ll notice color wears away this is typically within 10 to 20 minutes after application, and finally the shine wears away after a short time and a hint of sheen is left behind. The formula hugs lips very comfortable and never felt sticky or shiny.

Each Juicy Shaker is apparently is supposed to have their own unique flavor and fragrance. I didn’t really notice this with mine. They all had a slightly sweet, perfume-y flavor and fragrance that wore away quickly after application. There was a minor difference between that sweet flavor but nothing major noticeable.

Lancome Juicy Shaker are a highly innovative product with great packaging. Some might be put off by the cushion applicator due to bacteria issues but personally I thought the applicator was very, very unique and different. The entire idea from formula to packaging is very different for the US market. I liked these a lot, I just wish the formula was a little longer wearing and the color was a little more pigmented. They apply sheerer and they wear shorter sadly! But regardless, I still really enjoyed them!

I’d recommend purchasing at least one and experiencing these for yourself.

Lancome Juicy Shakers are available now on counters or at Ulta.com, Nordstrom.com, lancome.com, and Sephora.com.

Tried them?

Disclosure: Two of the Lancome Juicy Shakers in this post are press samples and one I purchased myself.

I do have a few of these. ….vanilla pop & Piece of Cake. They are nice, leaves a subtle stain and quite moisturizing for short period of time. I like the concept along with the applicator. I do however feel these are overpriced for what they are. Maybe a $14-16 price tag would suit it better. Could be just me….

    • Isabella Muse

I agree! $15 would be a nice price due to the shorter wear/lack of color.

I bought the Vanilla one but was disappointed that it did not smell like vanilla. I’m glad I’m not the only one who just thought it had a perfume-y smell. It had nice color while it lasted, though. I was thinking of getting the mango one but if it doesn’t have the scent then I may skip it.

    • Isabella Muse

Yeah! All three of mine had the same flavor with very, very subtle differences. I was under the illusion all of them had different flavors, could have sworn I read that somewhere!

      • Melanie

Agree….it is amazing what Youtube has done to the beauty industry. So many have hyped this product up…..with long lasting power and scents…. I have the Vanilla Pop and nothing vanilla about it…. scent is very very subtle.

Its come to the point where I have to wait for my trusted Muse and Temptalia to spill the beans before purchasing anything.

        • Isabella Muse

mmm that would be an outright lie if someone said long lasting! These disappear fairly fast. I didn’t get Vanilla Pop but I expected Piece of Cake to taste like vanilla or cake but it is kinda fruity and sweet. Awww thank you Melanie! Very flattered!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m sorry you watched a review that wasn’t completely honest 🙁 that sucks. I feel like that about Amazon lately. I love read self published books but so many reviewers “received an advanced copy” and their reviews are always stellar. I buy the book and end up yawning through it!

  • Libby

    Hey ya, Muse!

I think these look really lovely on your lips! I will admit that i’ve been looking forward to these for ages as i think they came out in the uk first and my friend over there was telling me she loved them but i gave them a shot at sephora the other day and i’m feeling a bit meh :\ there’s been an increase in products lately that are sort of lip color + oil (the clarins one omg, love) and i just feel like these a tad more kitschy than anything 🙁 plus, the price…haha saying that though, i’ve got a few of the YSL tint in oils and those are bit eh too LOL

thanks for the review, i miiiight give it another shot because i absolutely cannot say no to cute things and these are cute as heck!

    • Isabella Muse

haha I’m the same! It’s cute, I’m on it! I can’t say no to cute 😀 Thank you! I really like how they look on but I wish they wore longer 🙁 I love the Clarins too btw! Good stuff!

  • Gillie

Thank you for this review, Muse! I’ve been wanting to try these, but like Melanie, I was hesitant until you shared your thoughts. I still think they’re wicked cute, and still might buy one of the reds, but I’m disappointed they weren’t as great as I thought they were going to be. C’est la vie!

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure! I think picking up one is well worth it. it’s a nice slip on lip oil when you’re in a hurry plus hey, cute packaging 😀 But sadly, if you’re wanting long wear these aren’t it 😀 and thanks, flattered you waited for my thoughts <3!

I bought It’s My Jam over the weekend and I debuted it today. I’m really liking it although I agree that it’s not all that long-lasting. I’m loving the moisture and I can still feel it after it wears off. It applies as a very pretty brick red and it smells just like strawberry jam! The applicator & packaging are so cute – apparently Lancome made a lipstick in a cocktail shaker tube in the 40s. I also bought Great-Fruit which is coral/orange, but I haven’t tried it yet. All in all, I really like this product.

    • Isabella Muse

Ha no kidding! I’d love to see that. I bet someone on ebay has one hahaha 😀 I think I might have to grab My Jam as I love brick reds! But yeah, wear time is soooo short 🙁

  • Christine

These look really fun, the packaging is super cute. Lovely colors 🙂 x

  • Lori

Thanks for your review, Muse! I’m definitely going to give one (or two or three!) of these a chance. 🙂 I did also just watch the Lancome video on the Sephora website showing their ‘cocktail’ for this lippie. As mentioned above, they took their cocktail shaker lipstick from the 1940’s, threw in a Juicy Tube from the 1990’s and added ‘a little love’, and mixed it all together (in a martini shaker)! The final result were these cute new shakers. They also mention in the video that there are 5 different scents. I’m guessing that means that several of them have the same scent, since there are 20 different colors available for sale on Sephora’s website!

  • Jay

I really, really want to buy one! They’re so cheap and cute! But I have about 100 lip oils lol. The lasting power might keep me away for a few more months…until they go on sale that is 😉

  • Lela Ungaro

Hi, Muse! Bought a couple online at Sephora, the peach and melon. You are so right, they last about ten minutes but I have noticed since I started using these that I’m not experiencing dry chappy lips as I usually do. I just love the feeling of the application. I think these will be great for the beach this summer. Another spot-on review from you! I also want to mention that I really appreciate the photos of you wearing the reviewed product. It makes my decisions so much easier. Love you, Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

Oh good Lela! That’s good news! I have yucky, dry chapped lips too (worst now because I have a cold) I thought they actually helped soften and sooth my lips as well which was a plus! Just wish it was longer wearing 🙁 Oh btw, you should try the new Kiko Lip Oils! They are quite like this formula but sheerer 😀 good for yucky chapped, dry lips like ours! Aw thank you! thank you very much! I work hard on the site so it is always so nice to hear when someone says they enjoy a review/photos 🙂 xoxox!

  • Kimberly

I tried these and, sadly, was disappointed–mostly due to the lack of staying power. I ordered three colors online and all three went promptly back!

  • Jodi

You look amazing in “Berry in Love”! On you it is so flattering & brightening & youthful!

  • Shannon

I love, love, love these! I bought Lemon Explosion (pale pink with shimmer) and Cherry Symphony (deep red) and like them both for different reasons. Lemon Explosion smells fantastic and adds a nice glossy shimmer for ‘done but not done’ lips. The Cherry Symphony’s scent isn’t my jam b/c I don’t like the smell of cherry, but the product is deep without looking cheap (as most red lipstick does to me) and it definitely leaves a lovely stain when it wears away as I suspect all of the deep shades of Shakers do. As far as saturation, I know a lot of people are saying the staying power isn’t there, but keep in mind this is a lip oil, which means it isn’t going to and shouldn’t wear like a high impact matte lipstick. It’s more about the treatment than it is about saturated color. I think Lisa Eldridge did a fantastic job and these are lovely little oils that I’ll continue to purchase!
