Supergoop! Shine-On Lip Screen

A commonly asked question I get asked whenever review a lip balm or lip treatment would be, “Does it contain SPF?!” Also common? The fact we get really busy protecting our faces and sometimes forget our neck (for the love of beauty please don’t forget your neck!)! Fact, no one wants to walk around with finely lined lips one day so now is a good a time as any to start protecting them.

Supergoop! Shine-On Lip Screen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($22) is basically a soft, shiny topcoat that you can apply on top of your favorite lipstick and it instantly creates an invisible UV Shield. Whether or not you run around the house shouting “UV SHIELD ACTIVATED!” after application is entirely up to you. I would, just sayin’. I would also create a cape out of a towel and put my hands on my hips as I said it to evoke my inner super hero.

This is a clear top coat and it provides a water-resistant finish while protecting your lips from the sun. According to SuperGoop’s brand founder,”Dermatologists say that lip gloss is similar to holding a magnifying glass on your lips and can intensify UV rays.”

Whaaaa?! Great now my lipgloss is a magnet for harmful sun rays! Note to self either buy some Supergoop! Shine-On Lip Screen or stop wearing super shiny lipgloss in the sun!

Supergoop! Shine-On Lip Screen is available now to protect your lips at Sephora.com.

Well now, this is right up my alley! However, I wonder what it tastes like. If you’ve ever accidentally gotten sunscreen in your mouth when putting it on your face then you know it’s pretty gross. I’ll have to check out the ingredients to see if it’s a physical block or chemical. Thanks for the heads up on this I’m going to definitely check this out.

haha I was wondering about that myself as SPF smells/tastes horrible if you get it in my mouth!

I have vampire lips, pretty much have to wear SPF lip balm +12 hrs until sunset, or my lips will burn, peel, and flake away. And yes, it’s true, regular lip gloss is like putting baby oil on your skin, basically frying them in the sun, and increasing your risk of skin cancer because the lips have no melantonin to protect them. Problem is that SPF lip balm can make my lipstick/gloss slide off, but on the plus side, I’m 46 y/o and my lips are still pretty plump and without any lip lines, thanks to all that sunscreen. I love the Supergoop City Serum sunscreen, so will have to give this a try!

I use and love the Supergoop Acai Fusion lip balm because it’s SPF 30 and tastes good. I’ll definitely give this a try. I live in Texas and a good lip balm with SPF is a must!
