Too Faced Totally Cute Palette28

I purchased the Too Faced Totally Cute Eyeshadow Palette ($36) that recently launched with Too Faced Fall 2016 Collection. I have to admit the Totally Cute Palette is totally bogus. This eyeshadow palette comes in a pink compact that simply reads “Too Faced” across the front. But wait, there’s more! It comes with stickers, yes stickers, that you can use to decorate the palette with.

This is where things get a bit juvenile and childish! I should explain myself a little more before I call anything immature. I’m a lover of anything and everything cute. I remember when the Sephora Hello Kitty launched and I squealed my way through tons of posts about it. I became rather defensive when someone commented and said I was being childish and it was stupid that I wanted to carry around a Hello Kitty Compact. I get it! Not everyone is a child at heart and not everyone loves cutesy makeup. That’s me though. The cuter my makeup packaging is, the happier I am! Too Faced has always been very cute in packaging and most recently things have seem to gotten even cuter with the launch of the Peanut Butter and Jelly Eyeshadow Palette as well as the Sweet Peach one. But it seems like the Totally Cute Palette jumps the shark a little bit!

I guess there’s a line to be drawn when it comes to too much cuteness! Sitting down and decorating my palette with stickers feels a little too childish to me. And dare I say, a bit of a waste of time as well. Too Faced includes not one, not two, but three sheets of stickers with the palette. Mind you, you’ll never be able to use all of these! I ended up decorating the palette for this review and I purchased the palette for the same reason. All in all it isn’t something I’d have purchased if I didn’t get requests to review it. Not only is the color selection one I didn’t like but also the entire sticker thing just threw me for a curve ball.

But, I’ll admit, I had some minor fun decorating the palette. Once you start getting into it, it’s rather fun. I was worried the palette would look stupid or kitschy after I was done. But the stickers actually looked good and rather seamless with the pink background of the compact. Will they last through uses? I’m not sure. Right now they are fine but will daily use you might notice peeling! But hey, you have three entire sheets so, you can always start over if they do peel off. I tucked the extra ones into my planner as they might see better use there!

I should say, the stickers aren’t really something you absolutely need to take advantage of. If the eyeshadow shades in the Totally Cute Palette are your thing but the packaging is silly to you. No problem! Just don’t bother with the stickers. The actual compact is a simple pink and perfect for minimalists!

But now that we chatted packaging, let’s talk contents!

Too Faced Totally Cute

The Too Faced Totally Cute Palette includes nine eyeshadow shades as well as a get the look guide with instructions to create three looks. The palette feels a little lighter and looks a little smaller than past palettes but it still holds the exact same amount as past palette (3 Eyeshadows at 0.07 ox and 6 Eyeshadows at 0.03 oz).

Shades include:

  • Double Scoop (matte vanilla malt)
  • Shooting Star (shimmering nude)
  • Unicorn (pearl pink)
  • Bunny Fu-Fu (matte pumpkin spice)
  • Chocolate Donut (matte dark brown)
  • Clover (golden green pearl)
  • Storm Cloud (blackened peacock)
  • I <3 TF (bubblegum pink with silver sparkle)
  • Meow! (deep amethyst)

It’s a pretty standard round up of shades from Too Faced that can be easily duplicated across past eyeshadow palettes or even single shades that Too Faced has done in the past. It also happens to be a mismatch of shades that seem to have been chosen to compliment the “fun” palette. It’s weird seeing such a jumble of warm, cool, and vibrant shades all in one place. I’m a little obsessive compulsive with my makeup and the mismatch of shades have no rhythm or reason to me. I kind of look at it and think, “Oh god mud!” But actually, you can get some pretty good looks from these shades. The eyeshadow shades are broken into three looks which are called Ice Cream Cutie, Lucky Girl, and Totally Cute. Below I’m wearing the Lucky Girl look using the shades Shooting Star, Clover, and Storm Cloud.

The shades are very soft, with a velvety texture with some fall out during application. I had some issues blending Meow as it was a bit patchy but aside from that the other shades were smooth and buttery with an excellent pigmentation, good application, and easy blending!

The Too Faced Totally Cute Palette is a bit mismatched in color selection and the shades can be easily duped if you collect Too Faced Palettes. However, the quality is here and the 99% the eyeshadows had an excellent formula. You’re either going to love or hate the packaging but the good news is the stickers are completely optional so, if the palette is appealing you can toss the stickers, gift them, or use them in your planner.

My main issue with the palette was the fact it was a round up colors I’d likely not use. I loved Gunny Fu-Fu and Chocolate Donut as well as Double Scoop which was a great blending shades and highbrow highlighter. I also adored Clover which was a beautiful green! But the other shades aren’t something I’d likely use often enough to warrant the $36 splurge.

However, if you like these colors, I’d say go for it because the quality and performance is quite good across the board.

Hmmm the colors swatched look “merp” but I LOVE the look you did on your eyes!

    • Isabella Muse

I think the swatches are nice but looking the eyeshadows in the palette are merp! ;-D aw thanks Jacy!

  • Susan K

Probably a pass for me as I can easily dupe all the colors from my stash. But I must know what that juicy peachyness is on your lips! Nars orgasm lipgloss?

    • Isabella Muse

YES you can! It’s a waste if you have a lot of TF in your stash! No, it’s actually a chanel lipstick with clear gloss, the shade I’m unsure of at the moment! I’ll chat ya back when I get home and tell you 😀

  • Christina D.

As you know, pass for me. It seems TF is more interested in gimmicky packaging that coming up with anything new for the actual content. Each and every one of these colors has been repeated and renamed again and again. Thank, TF, for saving me the $$$.

    • Isabella Muse

Agreed, Christina! I wouldn’t have bothered if it wasn’t for the blog. It’s just a lot of repeated shades.

      • Isabella Muse

P.S. I fear that Holiday is going to be a lot of repeats!

  • Nikki

Gonna pass on this one. I really like the green colors, but the rest of them look very similar o colors in the Chocolate Bon Bons palette I have. I can’t justify $36 for only 2 colors that I like but realistically won’t wear very often! Now if they had a palette with mostly blues, greens, and purples I might be willing to splurge!

    • Isabella Muse

I agree completely Nikki! I liked the green and I liked three other colors but aside from that I likely won’t use the others!

  • yelena

I don’t mind the packaging, I would probably use the stickers on something else..but the colors don’t speak to me except for the browns at the top and well I already have PB&J which I love love love.

    • Isabella Muse

The stickers are kind of cute for use in a planner! That’s how I used them. Or I’m planning on using them that is. The brows are the only ones I liked too! And I liked clover as well. The rest I’m meh on!

  • Chanty

I agree with you muse, the colour selection wasn’t appealing to me at all to warrant buying it, to be honest I’m a little disappointed cuz before I saw it I was kinda excited, but this is definitely a pass for me.

    • Isabella Muse

Unfortunately, the colors are very easily duped across a ton of TF palettes. It’s a shame to rehash the same colors over and over and over again! Quality is here, it’s just that if you’re an avid fan of TF you likely have all of this already!

  • Kimmwc03

I wish I could just get the stickers for use in my planner!

This palette is a total skip for me as I’m not liking the combo of shades and I already have the chocolate bar palette which I rarely use.

  • Melissa

I cannot wait to get my hands on this palette! I admit, I am a Too Faced collector and mainly because they cater to my inner kid and have the quality to go along with it. I was planning on getting the Totally Cute palette from Sephora, but I received an e-mail that the Too Faced website was sending an extra sheet of stickers if you purchased from there. My eyes lit up and I purchased it immediately! I am 36 and can not wait to sit down and put these dang stickers all over the palette. Silly I know, but I’m too excited and the colors will be amazing on my deep bronze skin! Stuff like this why my husband has banned me from toy shopping for the kiddos. I have more fun than they do.

    • Isabella Muse

lol Melissa you sound like me! I’m def a kid at heart! I can’t believe it but I have to admit this was a little too childish for me though! But enjoy it Melissa, have fun! That’s what makeup is all about as far as I’m concerned!

  • Lorraine

Hiya, I just noticed you left one of the colors out of the part of the review where you listed the shades and descriptions, I love tf is left out.
I like the way you decorated your palette!

    • Isabella Muse

Oops thank Lorraine I’ll correct that now 😀 Thanks!!!

  • SusanT

Hey, Muse. Wow, I am not digging any of those colors, but I LOVE those stickers. I bet Too Faced would make a mint if they sold a package of their stickers on their own, don’t you think? I’d certainly buy them. Kisses and hugs from Daisy.

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Susan they actually collaborated with someone to create the stickers, I forgot her handle at the moment but I believe she sells them if you want them 🙂 xoxox!

  • Diana

I love Storm Cloud, but I think I have enough similar dupes for that in my stash. The cutesy-ness of the palette doesn’t bother me. If I end up purchasing it, I’d probably just leave the case as is and give the stickers to my niece though.

  • Astrid

I like this review. I don’t own TF palettes so when I saw this one I was really tempted into purchasing it. I’m a bit unsure because i’m mostly interested in the two top shades and the green. I would buy it because it would be good for travelling, it contains shades i’d would use so i won’t have to put a lot of palettes in my bag.
Anyway thank you so much for the review and the swatches!

    • Isabella Muse

My pleasure Astrid 🙂 I hope the revew helped you decide if you wanted it or not 🙂

  • Rachel R.

It looks great! I love the colors. The Too Faced 9-pans in the tins are so nice for travel. I’l be getting it.

  • Amanda

When I saw this palette on their website I was almost immediately turned off by the packaging. I love the cute packaging of of all their other palettes but this was really was a little, well, too cute for me. Not a massive fan of the color selection either so I’m definitely passing on this.

    • Isabella Muse

I feel exactly the same way! I love cute packaging but this was a little too overboard for even me 😀

  • Molly

I am a planner nerd and am very curious about your planner! What do you use? Maybe can we see a pic?!

    • Isabella Muse

hobonichi techo, Molly! I don’t have a pic but I’ll take one and post it on Insta if you like 🙂

  • Katherine T.

Yep, I love cute stuff ( Hello Kitty Pop Up Party shadow palette anybody?) and can spend hours browsing Hello Kitty stuff, but it seems Too Faced is trying a little too hard with the stickers and cutesy names, but I have to admit, your palette looks pretty with the stickers. You have some talent there! In terms of quality, these are probably the best shadows I’ve seen from Too Faced for a while, but I agree it’s an odd color combo, like there are shades missing, and I would have to reach for another palette to complete an eye look. But I do like Clover!

    • Isabella Muse

agreed! But maybe it isn’t about trying but more about targeting a new demographic? Tweens? haha thanks! Dunno if it was talent! 😀 but thanks!

  • Caroline

I only have a couple of TF palettes, and with my birthday coming up I might just treat myself to this one – it brings out the girlie in me! I love the look you created, by the way 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

Happy early Bday Caroline 🙂 Hope you like! Aw thanks!

  • Yo

Way late to the party. I’m a recent makeup convert and drop in here from time to time to get your opinion on things. I happened upon this review. I don’t own any TooFaced products, but they’re a reputable brand so I keep an eye. Anyway, you got to the orange shade named Bunny Fu-Fu and I stopped immediately and bought the pallet to send to my grandmother. She raised me. Apparently, when I was an infant, she nicknamed me Little Bunny Foo-Foo because I loved that song.

I haven’t seen her for some time due to distance. She’ll never use this pallet because, well, she’s old (she’d be okay with that joke, fyi). But hopefully it’ll let her know that she’s loved.

    • Isabella Muse

awww that’s a cute story, Yo! 😀 Little bunny foo food hopping through the forest 😀

  • Nikki

I kind of liked this pallet just because, to me, it was like the best of the chocolate bar pallets. I really only liked the standout colors and had tons of browns. So I didn’t mind them being repeats. I really did think they missed out by not giving it some kind of sweet scent. Not even chocolate, but maybe like ice cream, cake, or candy. I feel like that would have boosted the appeal.
