Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint

Now that we got the review of Maybelline Shine Shot Glassy Shine Topcoat and Prismatic Lip Topcoat out of the way we can move on to Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint! Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint is a new pigmented lip color (or liquid lipstick should you like to call it that) that launched with the Maybelline Summer 2016 Collection.

Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint will likely get likened to OCC Lip Tar across many reviews that you’ll be reading but personally, I think the formula is ten times better than Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics! OCC is a bit difficult to work with (well, not as much as it was when it was in a tube! The OCC RTW Lip Tar reboot definitely makes things easier) and tends to migrate plus the thicker formula isn’t for everyone. Maybelline brings the same great color pay off as OCC’s formula but in a thinner, easier to use formula that doesn’t migrate and isn’t difficult to apply in the least.

I love these and I highly urge you to run out and grab a few or all the shades! You won’t be disappointed.

Maybelline Color Jolt

Pigmented lip colors like Color Jolt are all the rage this season. E.L.F. just recently introduced a line of very inexpensive Lip Lacquers in a range of pigmented formula that’s quite resemble Lip Tars! I think Color Jolt are a real testimony to how modern, hip, and up to date Maybelline is on makeup trends. Beauty trends can be a little slow getting to the drugstore as most mid to high end brands seem to have first dibs on the latest and greatest trends. But Maybelline continues to churn out very exciting releases and on trend makeup and beauty that’s way ahead of many of the drugstore makeup world’s typical game.

I’ve used, I own, and I really enjoy Lip Tars but if I had to choose, the Color Jolt formula would easily replace it!

Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint come housed in a 0.21 oz squeeze tube with an attached sponge applicator for application. I’m sad and delighted with the packaging. I’m sad because I think some people will pass up on the product because they don’t love the attached applicator. And I’m personally delighted because I find the applicator is key at getting the color applied smoothly, evenly, and perfectly. But I do realize most people get kind of squeaked out by the idea of an applicator that can be removed and easily washed! Personally, I just wipe it off after each use. The packaging does resemble a compact version of Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick!

I don’t how, I won’t ask questions, but this formula is perfect. It applies perfect and it looks flawless with each and every single use. The formula is thick but thinner than the OCC formula with an easy, smooth glide across my drier lips. It does remind me of the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick but not nearly as thick! It applies smoothly, evenly, and flawlessly with the slanted sponge applicator. Simply squeeze the tube, a small amount flows into the tip of the applicator, and apply! The color is pigmented on a single stroke and only gets bolder with each application. You can build very easily should you like without the fear of the product going sticky, tacky, or flaking up. No matter how much you apply the color remains smooth and quite weightless with a very creamy, lightly hydrating consistency that’s pleasant and comfortable to wear. I had no issues with color migrating nor did color every dry out or look less than smooth through the 6 hour wear time. Initially there’s a slight shine that wears away after about three hours. I’m actually unsure what I’d call the finish, it’s a creamy satin with slight shine finish! For the most part, I’d call this a cream formula. The pigment is obvious that of a lipstick so, the actually formula could be dubbed a liquid lipstick of sorts. A single swipe yields rich, bold opaque color pay off. There is a slight fruity flavor and fragrance that tastes somewhat like watermelon which hangs around for a little while after application. I didn’t mind the flavor at all but it could be a problem for sensitive users.

Berry Naughty looks so good on you!! I think I need Stripped down, although I have identical shades in my collection already, we can never have too much lipsticks right? XD Maybelline is killing it lately!

  • Maria

Thanks for your review and swatches. I have to search for them. The colors look nice on you.

  • Dora

Love the nude shade — looks great on you! Packaging/applicator kind of reminds me of the TF Melted Lipsticks. I may have to watch for a sale/coupon on this one. Love Maybelline lip products!

    • Isabella Muse

yes indeed! and formula too! A little thinner than too faced though 😀

  • Heidi

So pretty. How strong is the scent on these compared to other Maybelline lippies (like the lipsticks? I always find those too strong and the fragrance on those makes my throat hurt and nose itch, so I’m hoping these aren’t that strong.)

    • Isabella Muse

I didn’t think they were that strong but I’m a bad judge of flavor/fragrance as I find something that doesn’t bother me ends up bother others awfully!

I just bought berry naughty last weekend and it is faint bubblegum scent–not NEARLY as bad as the other lipsticks. I have a sensitive nose so can’t,t wear perfume but I was happy with these. I also have sensitive lips (I react badly to most lippies, scented or not and my lips were happy).

      • Heidi

I actually finally spotted these in store. I picked up Stripped Down, and the scent isn’t bad. I agree with Maggie in that it does smell mostly like bubblegum, and it is mild. The color is pretty and the formula of these does feel really nice.

  • Nicole

Excellent! I’m glad to hear these are so nice. I nearly got one the other day, but made myself wait since I hadn’t seen any reviews yet. Looks like I’ll be picking up one or two then.

  • Gloria (DivaShop)

These look absolutely AMAZING! I’ll have to try these next time I’m at the drugstore.

  • Katherine T.

Oh, thanks so much for the reviews! I like the Too Faced Melted ones, and if these are even better (and cheaper), well then…. I’m eyeing Stripped Down. Are these LE???

  • danadoo

I bought red-y or not and i am absolutely blown away by this product! I can’t believe that maybelline did something this great! I will be getting more of these asap!

  • Nadya Mulok Sadri

    Museeee! Hi love!
Oooh stripped down looks so nice! I do wish Brunei has more varieties of Maybelline products. And I couldnt agree more with one of the readers here, we never get enough of our lipsticks even of they are the same color hahaaha

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Nadya 🙂 I’m really loving these! There’s always ebay right!? 🙂 Love me some lipstick too 😀
