skincare hits and misses

It feels like I’ve tried a good deal of skincare the past several months some of which were hits where as others were misses! I have to admit many appeared to be misses but there were some gems to be had like the Nip + Fab Soften Kale Fix Moisturizer! I love this stuff! So hydrating and such a great daily moisturizer for us dry skin folks.

Let’s take a look recent Skincare Hits and Misses!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel (Review)
Tarte’s newest cleansing gel is getting plenty of air time after releasing with the Sephora Exclusive Rainforest of the Sea Collection but I personally found it contained a bit too much fragrance to be loved by all. Plus add in the fact my dry skin felt terribly tight after using it and this was a sad little miss! If you’re still gun ho to try it might I suggest indulging in the Make A Splash Hydrating Skin Savers? It’s ten bucks and contains a deluxe size sample of the Deep Dive Cleansing Gel as well as a few other goodies from the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Collection!

Dr. Jart Dermaclear Micro Water (Review)
The micellar water trend has died down a little bit there’s still plenty of formulas well worth trying like Simple’s Micellar Water or even the new Garnier Skinactive Waterproof Micellar Water (It doesn’t do much for face makeup but does a fab job lifting away eye makeup quickly and easily). Now, I’m a fond fan of Dr Jart anything but their micro water just didn’t cut it for me! Why? Because it stung my eyes horribly. This is such a deal breaker for me when it comes to cleansers! This formula does a good job getting makeup off but not at the expensive of burning eyes. Miss!

Pixi Beauty Sleep Cream (Review)
Pixi’s new Beauty Sleep Cream isn’t going to win any favors from sensitive users as it does contain lavender oil and has a strong lavender fragrance but those who don’t mind fragrance might love how refreshingly moisturizing this formula is and how well it retains moisture! This one is a hit!

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue (Review)
If you’re looking for the best eye cream of your life this is it. This creamy, super hydrating eye cream is perfect for dry under eyes! It absorbs easily, wears well under makeup, and leaves eyes looking well rested. Now if they would just do away with the horrible pot packaging I’d be in heaven but none the less I’d buy this over and over and over again regardless of packaging woe!

Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital Daily Replenishing Oil (Review)
Sure, facial oils are great! Sure, they hydrate skin beautifully! But how many give you visible results right away? Lancome’s formula eases my dullness overnight so my skin is not only smoother and softer but also brighter looking! This one is a big HIT with me!

Soap & Glory When You Wish Upon a Jar of Moisturizer
Typically I like the idea of Soap & Glory’s skincare more than I like the actual formula! But sometimes they surprise, as they did with Wish Upon a Jar! This creamy, hydrating formula leaves my skin feeling soft and supple! Me like!

Kiehls Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque (Review)
I was really hopeful Kiehl’s new energizing mask would brighten up my skin and re-energize it but sadly, it was a no go for my drier skin! No insta-radiance here, folks!

i actually just posted my recent skincare regimen on my blog! =)been loving the tarte cleansing gel and marine boost mist! I must get that charlotte tilbury eye cream if you say it is that good- these fine lines around my eyes once i hit 30 are not cute!!! 2 disappointments for me: pixi glow tonic- i liked it in the beginning but after a while it stopped doing anything and it cosmetics confidence in a cream- again, worked well at first but then broke me out soo bad!!

Hey Muse do you have any recommendations for a dual phase waterproof eye makeup remover? My fave my Maybelline was discontinued. Looking for something non greasy because I wear contacts. I tried the Garner micellar waterproof but takes a little more effort so not a fan.

Sadly, I really did not like that Herbivore Instant Glow Mask at all. I’m still trying to decide whether I want to return it or just suck it up and use it.

I found it really hard to wash off, even with a washcloth – it just seemed to form a gummy film. And then my skin didn’t feel nearly as refreshed/peeled/whatever as it does with the Ren Glycolactic mask.

Sad face – I was so excited to try it!

Clinique All About Eyes Rich is my new fave eye cream. The regular All About Eyes is a gel — and eh, it feels nice but a bit too slippy, for me, anyway. The Rich version is a rich cream — love it. Also, I busted out a tube of “Serious Skincare Glycolic Gommage Extreme Renewal” that I bought after trying in a sample box but then never used. It’s an exfoliating mask and I usually use more hydrating/moisturizing masks but after a sweaty day, felt I could use something like this more. Was great and my skin felt super soft.

I’ve been loving Sunday Riley skincare lately. Especially the tidal water cream.

Muse, the cranberry kiehl’s didn’t do it for me either, I like the cilantro mask by kiehls that just came out better, if anything just for the smell. I have been wanting to try Lancome’s oil, I’ve heard good things from trend shows, and beauty advisors, but I’ve always been a little gun shy with face oils.

I’m going to give toe Cilantro one a try! I really didn’t love the cranberry one 🙁 I really like it 😀 It works a treat on my dry skin!

Thanks for the head’s up about the Kiehl’s, it was on the wishlist. Have you tried the newer glow collection by Pixi. Like the mud mask or the peel pads? I suffer from dry skin like you and my skin LOOKS AMAZING since using these products! You need them in your life ASAP! With the peel pads you should see a difference in your skin in a week or maybe even less. It is my new addiction and I normally use all high end skincare but honestly the pixi glow collection puts most high end to shame!

    • Isabella Muse

No problem! Yup! I just reviewed the mud mask recently and also enjoy the peel pads 🙂
