It Cosmetics Superhero Eye Transforming Anti-Aging Super Palette 4

The limited edition It Cosmetics Superhero Eye Transforming Anti-Aging Super Palette ($42) is a new 12 shade eyeshadow palette that launched today at Ulta.com. I told you about this little eyeshadow palette yesterday and was supposed to arrive in August but good news, it came a little earlier!

The It Cosmetics Superhero Eye Transforming Anti-Aging Super Palette is a new take on the Naturally Pretty Palettes we’ve seen from It in the past. They loaded this up with 6 eyeshadows shades, 3 eyeliners, and 3 of the new Superhero Eye Foundation Eyeshadows that correct, neutralize and smooth lids. These new Eye Foundation shades can be used in a variety ways including wearing them all their own as a natural color wash.

Let’s take a look!

It Cosmetics Superhero Eyeshadow Palette

As you can see the It Cosmetics Superhero Eye Transforming Anti-Aging Super Palette is a huge change from the normal It Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes we know and love. This palette comes housed in a rather slick and sexy hourglass shaped black compact. Inside you’ll find a generously sized mirror with Jamie’s signature and the words, “You’re a #RealSuperhero!” written on the mirror in pink.

The palette is arranged considerably different compared to past It Cosmetics Palette and also contains 2 shades less than we normally get for the same $42 price tag. The eyeshadows are smaller as well at 0.031 oz for nine of the shades and 0.086 oz for three of the shades versus 14 shades at 0.064 oz in the original Naturally Pretty Palettes.

As I said above the palette is arranged a little different compared to past palettes and is broken up into four different categories. First you have three different shades of Superhero Eye Foundation which can be used as a highlighter, color wash, eye primer, or worn alone for a natural look. Two of these shades are matte and one has a satiny velvet texture. The Eye Foundation formula takes the place of the single Transforming Shade that It typically includes in their eyeshadow palettes. I thought the two matte shades were denser than typically It Cosmetics eyeshadow formula but still blended easily. The satin shade was soft but slightly crumbly and also blended fairly easily. All three shades are sheerer shade that are best for highlighting.

The next two categories are the eyeshadow shades which are broken up into trios called Superhero Nudes and Superhero Neutrals. This selection of shades is made up of two mattes (starting from the left hand side of the palette) and the rest are satins. All six of the shades had sheer yet buildable color with a soft, easy to blend texture. The satins were particularly soft and smooth with a velvety texture. Again, this formula is considerably different compared to the silky mattes in the Naturally Pretty Palette. The formula is more velvety in comparison.

The last trio of shades are the Superhero Liners which are all matte. These shades were the most dense in the palette. You can use them to accent or use them wet (or dry) to line with. I find the shades are too patchy to apply all over the lid but act great as a contrasting shade or a liner.

The shade range is made up of a variety of colors that are both warmer and cooler. Some of the colors won’t work for every single tone particularly the Eye Foundation and Superhero Nude shade selection as they could potentially look pasty on a darker skin tone. I think the palette will be a big hit with fine lined, drier aging eyes because the colors are so soft and easy to blend. This isn’t an Urban Decay nor a Too Faced Palette. It’s not going to wow you with intense pigmentation. But if you like softer, easy to apply eyeshadow shades you should get on fine with this range of colors.

The It Cosmetics Superhero Eye Transforming Anti-Aging Super Palette is a great pick up if you like softer eye looks that are natural and pretty. This palette contains some great essential shades for work friendly and evening looks that apply easily and quickly. The shades run sheerer but build easily and look fabulous on my drier, finely lined eyes. If you’re looking for a palette that creates looks easily without a ton of know how this is a great one to pick up as you can create effortless looks in seconds with some of these shades!

The It Cosmetics Superhero Eye Transforming Anti-Aging Super Palette launches shortly at itcosmetics.com and is already at Ulta.com for a limited time.

I think you probably know what my question is: where is the palette made? In the past, their palettes were made in China, which only added insult to injury since I generally did not like their shadows (and you know I love mattes). Your swatches look good, and it is a generally positive review, so I will probably purchase if you tell me this is NOT made in China…

    • Isabella Muse

oh good question sis! I forget to say (normally I do because you’re always on the back of my mind about where it was made haha). Sadly, mad in China!

    • Agona

Christina D., I think you might be my beauty twin. :-O I also try to avoid Made in China…I’m still upset about their lack of QC with dog food/treats. 🙁

    • Randi MacDonald

Thats always my first question too. Where is it made? I think its crazy to pay a lot of money for a palette made in China. Everyone is mad to get their hands on the new Nordstrom Anniversary sale Lorac palette and its made in China too. Its also 18.00 which is I guess a good price for Lorac, but you can get a Wet and Wild palette made in China for 4.99.

    • Dia

Sadly, a lot of high end brands have outsourced to China now. I see eye and face palettes from Smashbox, Stila, and Lorac all made in China.

      • Harper

I hear a lot of talk about this in the beauty world. Can someone bring me up to speed about this? Why is this a concern for products and consumers? Thanks for all the information! 🙂

  • Christina D.

Not so sad! It saves me $42.

And thanks for thinking of me, my Sista. You ARE the best!

    • Isabella Muse

heh ;-D I always think of you whenever I review an eyeshadow palette!

  • Maria

Thanks for your review Muse. I was interested in it but the shades are sheerer and the 9 shades are half the size of the original palette. I think it is a pass for me. I already have too many palettes.

  • Kathy Agel

Niec look on you — what shades did you use, and which lipcolor are you wearing? It reminds me of an Avon shade (Cozy Mauve — but there was nothing mauve about it) that was my go-to for so long.

    • Isabella Muse

thank you! Confidence, Unstoppable, and daring. It’s an old LE Chanel Lipstick, the name of which escapes me at the moment 😀

  • Dee

Oh no! I thought since the shades were in the rectangular shape rather than the square ones they would be bigger. But it appears they are not….

  • Nicole

Do you know the one thing from it I never jumped into was the pallets of eyeshadow? I know, jaw dropping, lol!
I love the trios! I am eyeshadow impaired when applying them without a little guidance in what color looks best where. By the way Isabella, I want your eyes in that picture! That combination is gorgeous on you! So this will be the first IT pallet I indulge in (so your fault, lol 😉 )! I am more for buildable makeup person in general with a few exceptions. I am not someone who likes to look like I have a ton of makeup on with few exceptions and one is coming up in September that I literally feel my stomach turning now about. :I
Anyway, blaming this purchase on you dear, I can’t help your eyes look so beautiful I had to have it! You know I’m messing with ya! I have no self control since they took my gallbladder! HaHaHa! 😀

    • Isabella Muse

Ha! Really!? You need to get the Naturally Pretty Palette, Nicole! It’s lovely! Aw thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL with gallbladder removal self control goes out the window!!!??? That must mean mine is gone for a long time because I have no self control!

      • Nicole

I have the naturally pretty trio! It’s almost gone because I rely on it way too much along with pretty in amber because I have green well green with some blue eyes so amber looks pretty on them.
Gallbladder removal is my excuse, maybe they took yours out while you were watching Supernatural and have it in a glass jar like when they take people’s or angels technically, grace? Not your fault you didn’t know! LOL! 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

no no the Naturally Pretty Palette 🙂 the one 14 shades! It’s really lovely! 😀 Hahaha I love that!!!!!! Yes probably that’s what happened!

          • Nicole

I will look at it now. I remember it now that you say it.
You can’t be held responsible for what those darn boys do when you’re not looking.

          • Isabella Muse

lol they can do whatever they want to me whether I am or I am not looking haha!

  • Nicole

Well for the fun of it, I hope you’re looking! HaHaHa! 🙂
Do you like volume 1 or 2 of the Naturally Pretty pallets more than one or the other? By looking at them I see me more in volume 2 but I’d like your opinion. 🙂

  • Diana

I feel like a traitor, but I’m just not interested in this palette. *shrugs* It’s for the best, bc I need to start saving up for my insane spending spree that happens every year around the holidays. I have no self control when it comes to holiday kits & palettes. MUST. HAVE. THEM. ALL.

    • Isabella Muse

haha I hear ya! I’m bad around Fall, not so much Holiday stuff, but just love all the Fall stuff that comes out! Accessories, clothes, beauty, all the goodies in the Fall are my weakness!

  • danadoo

I own the first palette they put out and i LOVE the formula so much! If i wanna go big, i haul out the Urban Decay, but for a simple pretty everyday look these shadows are the best! I am really tempted by this…must resist, i have more eyeshadow than i could use up in a lifetime!

  • zVintageFashionizta

I thought I was going to purchase this palette but I’ll skip it.
Thanks for the swatches and review!

  • kjh

Surprisingly, the cooler tones look pretty decent. No IT shadows yet for me, though I have always been tempted by the ?romantic (second) palette. Those shades are tough to get right, and it arm swatches pretty well. This one is target marketed at me. Kind of seems that the shades are all over the place, and the matte big pans look fair at best. I think the layout is somewhat of a drawback. We are used to stuff like Kvd monarch, chrysalis, interstellar, where the groupings fit in a look. Some of the MUFEs are like that, but in columns. Doesn’t mean you have to use them that way, but coordinated layouts make them pretty idiot proof. I think this palette will require more thinking and experimentation. I don’t find it bloomin’ obvious. Might go for this, if it plays well and truly is a good anti aging formula, but would need to visit it in person. (And at my Ulta, the mod ren palette is displayed on a pedestal, like a museum piece, and it’s hard to get by that one; trying hard to resist). Lurked your blog for years. You do good work

    • Isabella Muse

I’m really a fan of the naturally pretty palette, the original one, that might be worth trying Kjh! I liked it 😀 Aw thank you! so glad you enjoy Musings of a Muse 🙂

  • Jen

The shades look great on you. Your skin is beautiful. I know you use and review all kinds of products. One day you need to list what your HG products are and what you use everyday. You are flawless, my dear.

  • Christina D.

Agona, thanks for that! The Muse is my Sista from Another Mista, and I’m glad to meet you as my beauty twin! I try to avoid the Made in PRC stuff since China does not regulate levels of lead in anything.

It’s one thing to pay $7 for a Make Up Revolution palette manufactured in China and take a chance on the quality — but it’s not OK with me to pay $42 for a palette made in China. I’ve returned a few items with this issue, the most recent being the TooFaced holiday collection which, I found out after the fact, was made in China.

    • Agona

Yay! 🙂 It’s weird that some companies outsource like that. Like Tarte sometimes have their holiday palettes made in China but then their seasonal stuff the rest of the year is made in random European countries. I feel like outsourcing is the reason why the formula quality from a particular brand seem to vary from palette to palette. Whereas some companies have a consistent formula/product in every palette they make, aka the bareMinerals Ready eyeshadows are the same same no matter what palette they’re in.

  • Sophie

This is one gorgeous eyeshadow palette! If only I could get IT cosmetics in the UK!
