MAC C'est Chic Eyeshadow Palette

It’s becoming terribly hard to resist the new MAC C’est Chic Eyeshadow Palette that’s available exclusively at Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com. MAC packs up both new and old shades in a matte selection of nude, natural colors. You get 15 shades and the palette reflects the new MAC price tag so, this little baby will set you back $65 bucks. This one of part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Collection for 2016 so, you won’t find it anywhere else.

Shades include:

  • You’re Bluffing (soft peach)
  • Soft Brown (soft golden peachy-brown)
  • Demitasse (midtone brown)
  • Corduroy (muted reddish-brown)
  • Dash of Mocha (dark beige brown)
  • Pale, Please (washed out pink)
  • Oo La Café (midtone neutral)
  • Choc-ful (dirty midtone pink)
  • All’s Rosy (deep pink rose)
  • Embark (intense reddish brown)
  • Drawing a Blanc (creamy beige)
  • Fogged in Dirty (grey)
  • Pinch of Sage (warm grey)
  • Dance in the Dark (dark brown)
  • Raven-Eyed (deep dark navy)

I keep telling myself I’m going to inject more matte into my daily beauty diet and this palette fits the bill well. But, MAC’s matte eyeshadow formula is hit or miss for me! I might have to check this one out in stores.

What about you

Loves it or leaves it?

P.S. I see the world went crazy while I was away on vacation. Please remember to love each other!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. So glad you’re back from your drool-worthy vacation! I missed this place :D. I don’t need it…but got rid of 3 palettes so theres empty space in my collection that needs to be filled *hangs head in shame*. I’m glad the colors aren’t all the same old repeats…at least, not for me. A good neutral palette never goes out of style!

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Jay! Great to be back! 😀 I missed you guys so much! I agree! I can always use more neutrals PLUS I don’t have nearly as many mattes as I would like! I’m going to swatch in store see if I feel like I need it!

I viewed the collection last week and I placed my order for this Palette and the red and pink sets.

      • zVintageFashionizta

        Yeah, you do (wink, wink).
This palette would compliment my NOW palette beautifullly….that’s my story and I’m sticking to it

Hey Muse! I am no fan of MAC in general (I’ve been burned too many times), but the 15 pan palettes are the exception. IMO they are very good, and a good value. I have all of them! In fact, they are the only MAC products in my collection. I was stalking the Nordstrom site multiple times per day for this one and I should (hopefully) have it in my hands today.

Let us know if you like it because I find if you think you need it then I think I need it too☺️

I was in the room with it (shopping) and passed it up. Mac eye shadows are a miss for me.
If the world would see the root of REAL LOVE then it , they would change. They don’t know Abba – my heart is very sad over this, too Musey girl. 🙁

  • Christina

I saw it in person, but they wouldn’t let me swatch it. It is pretty!! I think I’m going to cave and pick it up early. Haha!

I bought mine over the weekend. The quality is there, it is very cohesive, and I really like all the shades. However, it isn’t a “must-have” for anyone with a fair amount of MAC neutral mattes. Every shade can be duped, so even if one is missing a few, it may be a better option to grab a few single pans. That said, I don’t regret picking it up, as these are all shades I use regularly.

    • Isabella Muse

mmmmmmmm cohesive worries me, I don’t want a single uniformed shade when I’m blending.

      • amy

I meant “cohesive” in that there aren’t any shades that stick out (I have far too many otherwise neutral/cool toned palettes that have a random overtly warm shade thrown in). Perhaps “harmonic” would have been a better term. It is heavily mid-toned, though, but it serves well as a “base” palette.

        • Isabella Muse

Oops! I thought you were referencing the shades as being uniformed and the same. I don’t mind that though, I can always use more boring neutrals haha!

I just received mine in the mail and so far so good on swatches. I’ll be packing them on my eyes in the morning to see how they work. Oddly I realized I may as well because hey, all mattes, and I have zero MAC shadows in my collection… somehow. My concern that it would be too much like the Urban Decay Gwen palette (of which I now have 4…maybe 5…damn that $25 sale) was unfounded. Gwen leans a bit warmer than this palette, plus it isn’t all matte. Love your site Muse…I’ve been reading you for a few years (stumbled in your door while researching Asian makeup) but don’t recall if I’ve ever posted.
My initial swatch thoughts are this – they are thinner than the Viseart matte palettes, which makes them presumably easier for my hooded eyes to wear (does ANYONE with hooded eyes likes heavy shadow…it just doesn’t work…or maybe it’s just me? I feel like dense shadow on hooded eyes just makes them look more closed in). I hope you love the palette if you get it. 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

It sounds pretty good Nicole! I actually swatched it in store but still debating on it! I kept telling myself I already have shades like it but I still want it haha!

      • Christina Tran

Just get it, Muse. LOL! That is the conclusion I came to after swatching it 5 times at the store on different days. I’m wearing it today, and it think it’s pretty good. It’s not like I don’t have similar shades, but there were a few interesting colors in there like the neutral olive on the bottom and the rose that I thought would be a nice addition to any collection.

A little comparison and slightly off tangent, I did purchase the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette when it launched, and I can’t believe I returned it after a month of testing. I was dead set on keeping it because I loved the raspberry shade, but I just couldn’t. The mattes are so soft and silky, but I found it easy to overblend and muddy the colors, and the same softness resulted in a ton of powder kick-up. While not a huge problem, I have a white vanity and white carpet in my room…LOL! In comparison, the MAC mattes are a little thinner and pressed more firmly, so it’s not messy to use. I also like that the colors run more neutral than all the obviously warm tones in Anastasia (again, I was hoping oranges would work on me). My husband absolutely hated that palette on me, no matter how many different looks I came up with, and he usually loves color on me. I hope that helps in your decision.

        • Isabella Muse

ha Christina you’re a bad enabler! I ended up not getting it, I thought some of the shades drier but now your comment made me re-lem it 😀 Aw sorry about that! That stinks 🙁 I’m actually loving it and really looking forward to using it come Fall! I’ll def have a re-look at the C’est Chic though ;-D

        • Nicole

Oh man, thanks Christina. The Mod Ren was on my list but I don’t like overly soft shadows for the reasons you mention. Frees up 45 to spend somewhere else! 😀

    • Wendy S

Thank you for this teaser! Mine arrives Monday! Yes, I have drifted back to Mac because so many formulations are too heavy for me to pull of. I also have multiple backups of the Gwen palette!
