Max Factor X Maroon Dust Colour Elixir Lipstick ($7) is one of two, limited edition Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipsticks shades that launched with the Enticing Cat Eye Collection.
It’s a must have.
That is all.
Well, if you want more you’ll have to read ahead 🙂
You might have noticed I’m wearing Max Factor Maroon Dust Colour Elixir Lipstick in my Tarte x Hrush Palette Review that I posted earlier this morning. It went rather well with the coral blush in that palette.
I think the real raving for this lipstick is the color is not necessarily the formula which reminds me a lot of Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick and considering P&G owns Max Faxtor that should not be a major surprise.
Love it! There are actually two shades one of which is called Simply Nude and that’s a pale nude pink. I skipped it because I really don’t do nude pinks very well but Maroon Mist seemed like an easy blind buy! I say blind buy because the color at the bottom of the barrel is a lot darker than the shade that’s in the tube but it still worked out great for me so, I’m not complaining. This is a warm, dusky nude. It almost looks a bit dusky pink nude! It’s a really gorgeous nude that compliments my complexion very well and doesn’t give me a case of zombie lips.
This lipstick does have an unusual vanilla perfume flavor and fragrance that I didn’t love! If you’re sensitive you’re going to hate it! The texture is soft and creamy and applies without dragging however, the color does need to be patted gently after application as it tends to fall into my natural lip lines and gives a dry finish even if the formula isn’t drying. I wish it was a little smoother and even on application but I do have to intervene and smooth my finger over it after application. There’s some light moisture here but the formula does make itself known when I’m wearing it. It’s not really heavy but it just feels like I have lipstick on if that makes sense! It doesn’t have any weightlessness to it.
I’m not in love with the consistency but I’d totally buy it again if they created more shades as lovely as Maroon Dust because the shade is definitely a keeper.
Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick isn’t the best drugstore lipstick I’ve ever tried but it isn’t the worst either. The limited edition shade is the real joy though which will be a wonderful compliment to Fall nude looks.
