About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Ooooh! I wish it would run a tiny but deeper…why so many light shades??

  • Nikki

I love the top row, I wish they made a naked 3 basics palette like the other two. I can’t justify $55 for a palette I won’t use half of.

    • Jen R

I’m with you, Nikki – I’m fair and cool-toned and the only Naked palette I like/have is Naked 3, and I’ve really been wanting a Basics palette to go along with it!

Instinct and Magnet are really the only two from this one that I think I’d use regularly.

  • Maria

Muse. I guess you will be purchasing this palette. I will wait for your swatches and reviews. I agree also. Wish the top half of the shades were not so light.

September 18th, woohoo! I might have to get this one. Also, some MAC Selena items…what a good month it will be haha

  • Alys

So.Many.Nude.Palettes. Ugh. Makeup is beginning to feel like “Groundhog Day.”

  • Allie

This looks like most of these colors are good for transitions. I do wish there was somthing similar to peach smoothie then it would be perfect.

  • Jane

Oh look. More warm shades. : P
I feel like we cool gals get little love.

  • LS

As a pale girl, I’m happy with the light top row in a basics palette. I’ll reserve judgement about whether I “need” it or not until I see swatches.

  • Jackie

I know I’ll buy it….but, it reminds me of a matte Stila palette of shades I have, and a lighter version of an e.l.f. all matte palette I just ordered for $10 which looks awesome. There ARE neutrals, altho not all matte, in some of my Vice palettes that if combined would make one hell of a blockbuster Naked 4, imho. But they didn’t ask me 🙂

Makeup Revolution sells duplicates of the Naked series, including a matte palette. It is not as high quality as UD’s, but the palettes sell for only $7 and the line is completely cruelty free, unlike UD parent company L’Oreal. And someone else mentioned an ELF matte palette, another cruelty-free line. I just think there are decent options that you don’t have to pay $$$ for and that also refuse to test on animals. (I know–some UD is even vegan, but I guarantee they’re selling in China, which means they now test on animals.)

To me, this looks an *awful lot* like the Stila In the Know matte palette from a few years ago.
I’m ashamedthat I still kinda want it.

  • Dani

Gah! I love this, but I know I absolutely don’t need it. I can already feel myself buying it & feeling guilty about the purchase, haha. The original UD Naked Basics palette is much loved by me & I’ve almost hit pan on a few shades, but this isn’t too far off from that one, honestly. Plus, I have ALL of the ItCosmetics Naturally Pretty palettes, which are all matte, & Lorac Pro palettes that are half matte… so do I really need any more matte eyeshadows?? Why you do this to me UD?! #itssopretty

I’m disappointed that it is not the Basics 1 & Basics 2 combined into one large improved packaging palette (I love those two palettes but will never repurchase because the packaging gets disgusting!)

  • Jenny G

Gosh O want it!!! I love matte eyeshadow. Please review it for us!!! Xoxo
