NYC New York Color Cosmetics Show Time Lip Balms

NYC New York Color Cosmetics Show Time Lip Balm ($2.29) is a fairly new sheer lip balm that NYC launched for Spring/Summer 2016. Totally a nostalgic moment but remember the New York Color Cosmetics Applelicious Glossy Lip Balms? Those just randomly popped into my head at the moment.

But yeah, let’s chat the new NYC Color Cosmetics Show Time Lip Balms!

NYC Color Cosmetics Show Time Lip Balms are available in six shade selections and each comes housed in plastic barrel which holds 0.11 oz of product. I must rant that the lip balms don’t swivel completely down. This is a fault with many of NYC Color Cosmetics lip products in my opinion as when I replace the cap I have to be careful not to take a chunk of the lip balm with it. Please, guys, won’t you fix this in future lipstick and lip balm releases? K, thanks!

The formula is a thin, slightly slick texture that applies smooth and evenly on my drier lips with a hint of moisture and shine. It’s actually a formula I love for simple touch ups through the day as I’m not really one for reapplying my lipstick and lipgloss once it wears away. I just find it easier to slick on some sort of tinted lip balm as a touch up. These fit the bill perfectly as they add a hint of sheer color and a nice bit of shine to my lips. I wouldn’t say they were terribly moisturizing but they do provide a hint of light moisture which makes them very comfortable to wear. The wear time varies from shade to shade but I get around three hours of sheer color and about two of shine. One thing I didn’t like was the taste and smell which reminded me of cardboard. I’m not really sure what flavor they were going for here but it just reminded me of cardboard.

I have not tried these but I have just tried the Essence Sheer & Shine lipstick in “Glamour Queen 10” @$2.99 and I LOVE this! Beautiful color for fall (a color that I think would work for most), shiny with a bit of shimmer and feels very nice on the lips. I got this at my local Ulta store.

I love those 🙂 they are cheap and add a nice sheer shine and color to lips!

I really like the formula of the original lipsticks from this brand, but THAT DAMN CAP!!!!! If I’m going to use a lipstick, I’m going to want to toss it in my purse for reapplication throughout the day…obviously. What does NYC cosmetics NOT understand about this?! It’s bad enough that the lipstick doesn’t swivel down but I can live with that, it’s the damn cap that won’t stay on, thus making it impossible to carry with me that really bugs me! I don’t expect miracles at this price point, but come on, even chapstick has basic packaging figured out! I am protesting this brand until they figure this out!

The cap, and then I just don’t care for NYC lipsticks. I’ve tried, but they always have a scent and flavor that turns me off.
